Upcoming AAU Star: Elijah Howard

Elijah Howard winning the 2014 100m final at the AAU Junior Olympics with a time of 11.86.

Knoxville Youth's Elijah Howard enters the AAU Region 6 meet as the reigning AAU Junior Olympic champion in the 100m. His sprint talents aren't limited to the track, though--Howard is also a star running back at his middle school, and received the MVP award in the Kentucky/Tennessee Future Stars game.

He started competing at AAU meets as a 10-year-old, and won every single 100m race (prelims, semifinals, and finals) for the past two years of the AAU Junior Olympics. He also does quite well in the 200m dash--last year, he finished first in the 200m finals, and the year before that, he was second.

Howard continues to improve year over year. As a 10-year-old, he ran 11.86 in the 100m and 24.70 in the 200m.  Coming into the Region 6 meet, he has already clocked a time of 11.06 in the 100m and 23.28 for the 200m.  These could be huge races for Howard as he looks to not only keep his back-to-back 100m titles, but also possibly go sub-11 in the 100m and sub-23 in the 200m.
