Top Five Events To Watch At The Jesuit-Sheaner Relays

6A Boys 800m

Reed Brown running 1:54.41 earlier this season.

Who: Reed Brown, Jake Merrell,  Micah LangatRyan Sterling
WhenSaturday, 2:45 PM (CDT)
Why: This race should be one of the fastest early season 800m races around. There are four guys who have run 1:55.92 or faster in this race. One of those runners is 2016 NBNI mile champion and Foot Locker Nationals champion Reed Brown. He dropped a U.S. No. 10 1:54.41 earlier this season after running in 30 mph winds at The Colony Cougar Invitational. Brown is coming off running his 5K PR of 14:37.51 at The Texas Distance Festival just last week.

Although Brown has plenty of accolades to his name, he can't be considered the favorite in this one when Turkey Valley's Jake Merrell is in the race. Merrell holds an 800m PR of 1:51.56. He ran that last year at the TTFCA Meet of Champions, taking third behind Bryce Hoppel, who now runs for Kansas, and Sam Worley. A junior, Merrell will be looking to make a name for himself in his first big race of the season. Ryan Sterling and Micah Langat could also both be in the mix, having run 1:55.92 and 1:53.54, respectively.

Jake Merrell after TTFCA Meet of Champions and running a 1.51.56 800m and 4.13.00 1600m.
