Flash Results at Pasco

The meet is over with only the awards for the outstanding athletes.

Kamiakin girls won the 4x400 with Ellie Heiden anchoring while Wenatchee won the boys 4x400.  Anandae Clark of Lakeside won the girls pole vault with 13 feet.  Allie Hadley of Bothell won the girls javelin with 140-04.  Joshua Syrotchen of Lewis & Clark won the boys discus in 179.  Madison Seaman of Coeur D'Alene won the girls discus in 132-10.  Courtney Hutchinson of Mead won the girls shot put with an effort of 44-11.5.  Brandi Williams of Auburn Riverside won the long jump over her teammate Ali Rodseth, and her leap was 18-07.5.  Justin Peterson of Lakewood won the boys triple jump with 44-04.  Austin Sodorff of Woodinville won the boys pole vault with 15-06.

Nathan Weitz of Shadle Park pushed the pace of the boys 3200.  Only Mead's Andrew Gardner and North Central's Kai Wilmot kept up.  Nathan broke away for the win in 9:03.11 while Andrew and Kai waged a spirited battle for 2nd place which went back and forth, but Gardner just got the runnerup position.  Both Kai and Andrew recorded versions of 9:06.  Maddie Meyers of the Northwest School went to the front of the girls 3200 and did not look back.  Although the temperature dropped and made for better distance running weather, the wind kicked up and made the effort harder.  Maddie's time was 10:47.95.

After 2 runnerup finishes this year including Arcadia, Dakarai Hightower of Curtis vowed to only win gold and did not disappoint.  He won the high jump with 6-10 and almost made his 7 foot jump, but the wind was an issue.   Isaiah Brandt-Sims (21.74) of Wenatchee just misseed  a win over Mead's Wes Bailey (21.72) in the boys 200 while Ellie Heiden won the girls 200 in 25.46.  Nick Boersma of Wenatchee annexed the 800 with a late charge with a time of 155.21 over Keith Williams (1:55.99) of North Central and Hap Emmons (1:56.16) of King's.  Megan Beauchene of Kamiakin won the girls 800 in 2:14.22 less than a second ahead of North Central's Katie Knight.  Morgan Stumble of Coeur D'Alene won the 300 hurdles with a fine time of 43.83.  Blake Gerling of Walla held off Joseph Corllett of Hanford and turning in the fastest time of the year in Washington for the 300 hurdles.  The time was 38.75.  Ellie Heiden of Kamiakin held off Whitney Diggs of Highline in the girls 400.  The winning time was 56.87.  Wes Bailey of Mead won with a come from behind victory in the boys 400 catching Byron Howell of Garfield.  The winning time was 48.69.

Davian Barlow (22-01) of Mead won the boys long jump with Brennan Schon (22-0.75) of Lewis & Clark as the runnerup.  Kamiakin won the girls 4x100 with a time of 48.84 over Curtis (48.91).  Aaron Castle of Newport won the shot put with a toss of 62-10.5 over Dennis Christensen of Richland.  Austin Sodoroff won the pole vault with 15-6.  Sam Hilmes of Mead won the boys javelin with a heave of 187-05 over Joey Payne (179-06) of Richland.  Melissa Merrill of Hanford was all smiles after winning the girls high jump with a leap of 5-8.  Kyra Burke of Iglemoor won the girls 1600 with a time of 5:07.74.  Nick Boersma of Wenatchee won the boys 1600 with a time of 4:20.59.

Finished the 100s and hurdles.  Local runner Joseph Collett of Hanford won the 110 hurdles with a time of 14.60 over Kaid Tipton (14.77) of Kentridge.  Mackenzie Mathews of Jesuit OR won the girls 100 hurdles with a time of 14.72 by using a final surge over Jade Childs (14.73) of Capital and Morgan Strumble (14.77) of Coeur D'Alene.  Isaiah Brandt-Sims of Wenatchee won the boys 100 with a time of 10.96 over Markeith Harris (11.03) of Nathan Hale.  Kennadi Bouyer of Curtis won the girls 100 with a time of 12.06 over Madelayne Varela (12.34) of Kentwood.  Third was a tie between Brandi Williams of Auburn Riverside and Erika Lombardo of Auburn Riverside with both clocked at 12.46.

The winners of the elite mile races went out from the start and never looked back.  Katie Knight of North Central won with a time of 4:51.57 with Maddie Meyers (4:53.54) of the Northwest School as the runnerup in 4:53.  Lily Engelbrekt of Bishop Blanchet was third in 4:55.95 while Jordan McPhee of Mt. Rainier was fourth in 5:00.99.  Marcus Dickson of White River learned a lesson from Arcadia and decided to take the pace early so as not to get boxed in.  Marcus won with a time of 4:09.01 while Eric Harris (4:10.15) of Twin Falls, ID, was second, Korey Krotzer (4:10.20) of Auburn Riverside was third, Izaic Yorks (4:11.62) or Lakes was fourth, and Dallin Farnsworth (4:13.11) of Pocatello, ID, was fifth.  Marcus' time is a meet invite record when converted to the 1600 as 4:07.57.

Finished running heats of the hurdles on the homestretch and prelims of the 100s on the backstretch as well as the 200s.
