The day's schedule at Friday's session of the US Track & Field Trials included a mile race for prep girls, which was essentially an exhibition. The field was made up with young ladies from around the nation, who are currently at the Nike camp for preps, which was won by Hannah Meier in 4:55. Amy-Eloise, who was hampered all season with hamstring problems, placed second in 4:56. Camas freshman Alexa Efraimson finished sixth in as olid 4:58, while North Central's (Spokane) Katie Knight came in ninth with a time of 5:03. Knight's race was quite surprisingly, as she had only recently been diagnosed with mono. The three young ladies from the state of Washington is a testament to the quality of the state's runners this year, as they were selected from a national list.
