Cascade wins meet on tiebreaker

SHORELINE - Everett\'s Axel Stanovsky of Everett wasn\'t challenged much as he cruised to first place with a time of 18 minutes, 15 seconds in a 3.1-mile Wesco boys cross country meet at Hamlin Park.

Cascade and Everett both scored 30 points, but Cascade \'s sixth-place finisher gave it the tiebreaker, Everett did not have a sixth runner.

The Bruins were led by five top-10 finishes, with Tyson Rickman finishing third to lead the way with a time of 18:25.

Shorewood coach Howie Wood said that Stanovsky was all by himself the whole race. \"No one gave him a challenge.\" said Wood. \"His next closest competitor was his own teammate.\"

The Thunderbirds (71 points) rounded out the three-team race.

The three teams began training together in the spring at what has been dubbed the \"Dirty Face\" cross country camp and Kamiak won the inaugural Dirty Face award based on the combined scores of its varsity boys and girls teams along with its junior varsity boys team.
