Steve Telaneus, the revered long-time Marcus (TX) High School coach who led the Marauders cross country and track and field programs for over three decades, died on Thursday, MileSplit has learned.

MileSplit has been a strong supporter of the Texas Cross Country and Track and Field Community for decades now, and we're saddened to hear of this news. Our hearts go out to everyone in the Marcus community for their loss.

No funeral arrangements have been made, but the Marcus cross country and track and field booster club has started a GoFundMe for the Talaneus family.

We will provide more information as it comes to us.

In 2015, MileSplit told the story of Telaneus, who recovered from a serious heart attack in 2002, as he led the Marauders toward the state championships in cross country.
