Caroline Wells Runs FL #2 All-Time 4:42.40 Mile At Brooks PR

Winter Springs junior Caroline Wells ran the second-fastest girls mile time in Florida high school state history behind only record holder Caitlin Collier at 4:38 with her 4:42.40 fourth-place finish in a field featuring many of the nation's very best distance runners at the Brooks PR Invitational on Friday evening in Seattle, Washington.

Wells was coming off a 10:08.77 victory in the 3200-meter run at the RunningLane Championships in Alabama last month to break her own Florida high school state record. On Friday at the Brooks PR Invitational, Wells found herself leading the field at times early on thru the first half mile, while still able to stay in close proximity to the eventual top three finishers Juliette Whittaker (4:38) of Maryland, Riley Stewart (4:40) of Colorado, and Mia Barnett (3rd, 4:42) of California all the way to the finish.

Brooks PR looks to be the last race of the 2021 outdoor season for the standout Wells, who will now after a break turns her attention to a highly anticipated senior season of cross country that could potentially be a legendary fall of races based on her spring and summer track performances.
