Sophia Rodriguez Earns Golden Ticket to Brooks XC Champs

Earlier today, Sophia Rodriguez was announced as the next Fleet Feet Golden Ticket winner on social media.

By earning the Golden Ticket, Rodriguez secures an automatic spot in the Brooks XC Championships Presented by Fleet Feet on December 13th. She will compete against the top regional championship qualifiers and the other golden ticket recipients to see who's the toughest of the toughest.

A representative from Fleet Feet Seattle handed Rodriguez her ticket during her high school cross country practice. The junior from Mercer Island High School is having an incredible start to this season with the No. 1 time in the nation.

At the Mook XC Invitational, Rodriguez ran a national-leading 16:10 on the 5k cross country course. Following this outstanding performance, she traveled across the Atlantic to compete in the U20 World Mountain & Trail Running Championships. Rodriguez finished 14th overall in the U20 category as the top member of Team USA.

Since then, she has maintained her undefeated streak in Washington, most recently winning the 4A/3A/2A & 1A Kingco Conference Cross Country Championships in a comfortable 17:24.

This will be Sophia Rodriguez's second time competing at the XC Champs at Balboa Park in San Diego, CA. She qualified for the XC Champs as a 9th grader and finished 18th overall. Now that she's a couple of years older and leading the nation currently, she will surely walk into the Brooks XC Championships as one of the favorites.
