Several Washington high school athletes posted personal bests during meets held April 22-23.
Brody Buxton (Prosser) jumped 22-2 in the long jump at CWAC #1 Prosser & Othello @ Grandview on April 23, improving from his previous best of 19-9 set in April 2026. The sophomore's mark ranks #10 in Washington state and #1 among sophomores, and set a Prosser High School record while placing first among 17 competitors.
Marley Groce (Pasco Senior) ran 12.69 in the 100 meters at MCC Scored #1 on April 22, dropping from her previous PR of 13.21. The mark places her #80 in the state and she finished fifth of 29 runners. Groce also set PRs in the 200 meters (26.77, down from 26.79) and long jump (16-7.75, up from 16-3.5) at the same meet.
Mylie Anderson (Chiawana) clocked 12.62 in the 100 meters at MCC Scored #1 on April 22, improving from 13.13. The mark ranks #67 in Washington and Anderson placed third of 29 competitors.
Brody White (Hanford) leaped 21-6 in the long jump at MCC Scored #1 on April 22, bettering his previous mark of 20-1.5. White's jump ranks #27 in the state and he finished second among 30 jumpers.
Gregory Powell (Walla Walla Senior) ran 11.26 in the 100 meters at MCC Scored #1 on April 22, dropping from 11.67 set in March 2026. The junior ranks #157 in Washington state and #12 among juniors, placing 10th of 30 runners. Powell also PRed in the long jump (20-8, up from 19-8.5) and triple jump (41-11, up from 41-7.5).
Malachai Smith (Everett) threw 140-1 in the discus at Mountlake Terrace & Marysville-Pilchuck @ Everett on April 23, improving from 125-6. The senior's throw ranks #5 in the state and #2 among seniors, setting an Everett High School record while winning among 19 throwers. Smith also set a shot put PR of 38-0.5, up from 35-3.
Violet Heidt (Seton Catholic) ran 12.34 in the 100 meters at the 1A Trico League Meet at Castle Rock on April 22, improving from 12.74. The mark ranks #27 in Washington state and set a Seton Catholic school record while winning among 19 runners.
