New State Leaders
Jonathan Allen (10th, Hanford) - Boys Pole Vault, 17-0.5
Jonathan Allen became the first Washington athlete this season to clear 17 feet in the pole vault, continuing a breakout sophomore campaign with one of the top marks in the nation.
Macy Swanson (12th, Kelso) - Girls Pole Vault, 12-6
Swanson took over the Washington lead in the pole vault with a 12-6 clearance, strengthening her position as one of the top vaulters in the state entering championship season.
Jazzlyn-Rei Smith (11th, Bonney Lake) - Girls 300m Hurdles, 42.07
Smith delivered one of the top hurdle performances in Washington history at the South Sound Classic, moving to WA #1 after breaking 42.10 for the first time.

The South Sound Classic Reshapes WA Rankings
South Sound Classic Boys 1600m
The South Sound Classic became a three-man race among Amin Fidaar, Quenton Lanese, and Caden Durocher, all pushing for personal records. Fidaar secured the victory by mere milliseconds, proving he has the skills to be the best in the 1600m and 800m. His winning time of 4:09 pushed five other athletes into the Washington top ten this season. Quenton Lanese finished in 2nd place, improving from his previous best of 4:12 to a new personal record of 4:09, which leads the nation among freshmen.
South Sound Classic Girls 300m Hurdles
Five of Washington's top ten fastest girls in the 300m hurdles came out of the South Sound Classic, where Jazzlyn-Rei and Anna Schneidler were separated by 4-hundredths of a second. The two juniors take the top ranking spots in Washington with 42.07 and 42.12. Freshman Chloe Williams finished third in 43.07 to move up to #4 in Washington. This race saw eight WA girls run under 44 seconds for the first time this decade, demonstrating how competitive the event has become in recent years.
South Sound Classic Girls 1600m
Sophomore Aubrey Williams ran 4:49 to win the South Sound Classic 1600m, beating senior Latham West, who ran a new personal record of 4:51. This battle could be a preview of the WIAA 4A State Championship later this May if the two choose to run the 1600m. West also came back to run 10:30 and win the 3200m.
