Quenton Lanese Broke the 1600m Freshman Record
The star freshman, Quenton Lanese, set a new bar in the 1600m when he ran 4:04.45 to finish runner-up in the WIAA 4A boys' 1600m race. Lanese shattered the previous freshman class record set by Josiah Tostenson at 4:09 in 2022. This historic record shook the entire track world and comes at a perfect time as Lanese gets ready for the Brooks PR Freshman Mile National Championships this Sunday.
WA #2, #3, and #4 in the 300m Hurdles
All season, the girls' 300m hurdles appeared to be the most competive in Washington's history, and last week proved it with three girls running under 42 seconds. Anna Schneidler led the way with a personal record of 41.38 in front of Jazzlyn-Rei Smith, who ran a PR of 41.53. Then, in the 3A Washington race, Savannah Hinton won with a PR of 41.73, making her the fifth girl in WA history to break 42 seconds.
Simon Rosseli Wins Ends His Historic Washington Career
The final WIAA meet of Simon Rosseli earned him a third consecutive 4A discus title and second 4A shot put title. His throw of 223-11 feet in the discus broke the state meet record to put a nice bow on the greatest thrower in Washington's history.
Kenyon Andrews Rewrites the State Record Books
In the 4A Boys' 300m hurdles, Kenyon Andrews dominated the race with a 35.80 to break the Washington state record and become the first boy in the state to run sub-36. This victory completes two years of undefeated seasons in the 300m hurdles to put a stamp on an excellent high school career.

Athletes to Watch at Brooks PR
After competing at the WIAA State Championship, these athletes will look ot defend their home turf at the Brooks PR Invitational on Sunday, June 7th.
Dylan Rowell (12th, Anacortes) - Boys Mile: As the current state leader in the mile, Dylan Rowell appears to be the best boy to defend Washington's home turf.
Cohen Butler (12th, Camas) - Boys 2 Mile: After winning the 4A boys 2 mile in a new state lead of 8:43, Cohen Butler is in the best shape of his life and could possibly challenge Oweb Powell's state record of 8:38.
Cassidy Armstrong (12th, Ballard) - Girls 2 Mile: During this season, Cassidy Armstrong has focused on the 3200m, but the state leader will give a shot at the 1 mile this Sunday in a loaded field.
Ciana Johnson (10th, Ballard) - Girls 800m: The two-time 3A WA State 800m champion has all the momentum for an 800m race that could have national record implications.
