Jacki Hill was a very busy sprinter at Friday's Kitsap County Classic. And very fast too.

The Bremerton sophomore claimed titles in the 100, 200 and 400 meters and got a fourth as the anchor of the Knights' 400 relay team, but she had no time to celebrate her victories. As soon as she was done with the 200 meter race, Hill was off and running out of Silverdale Stadium for a family get-together.

\"She just had a great day,\" Bremerton coach Lloyd Pugh said. \"It's typical of her.\"

Hill ran the 100 in 12.61 seconds and won the 200 in 26.72 seconds, outdistancing the second-place finisher by over a second. In the 400 relay, she led the Knights to a first-place finish in 51.56 seconds.

Hill was to anchor the 1,600 relay team as well, but one of her teammates was injured and the Knights couldn't participate in the race. So Hill entered the 400, running in lane 8 as a late entry. She took the lead in the final turn and won in 1:01.17.

\"I just jumped in the 400,\" Hill said afterwards. \"I didn't want to do it at first. It was a hard race.\"

\"She ran it to maintain her strength,\" Pugh said of Hill's running of the 400. \"It was good for her momentum. It was a good experience; she didn't have anyone to look at until she made up the stagger. This is the first time she's really ran the race except for the relay.\"

South Kitsap won the girls' team title with 174 points. North Kitsap finished second with 107 points.

North won the boys championship with 171 points.

This was the third year of the Kitsap County Classic, which matches five Kitsap County high schools — Central, North, South, Bremerton and Olympic — and served as a tuneup for next week's Narrows League meet. But it might be the last — due to reclassification next season, Olympic and Bremerton will move down to a reformed Class 3A/2A Olympic League, while the other schools will stay in the Narrows League.

Central Kitsap coach Mark Ward, the meet organizer, wants to keep the event for next year, and try to get the other Kitsap schools involved as well.

\"We saw the Tacoma schools have the Tacoma city championships, so we thought it would be cool to have,\" Ward said. \"I'd love to get all the Kitsap schools in it.\"

Will Cameron of North Kitsap blazed to a decisive victory in the 800, winning in 2:00.02. Earlier, he had won the 1,600 in 4:33.79. He plans on running just the 800 and 1,600 relay during the postseason.

Christian Demouchet of Olympic swept both hurdles events on the boys side, winning the 110 in 15.35 seconds and the 300 in 41.10. Angela Pappuleas of South Kitsap did the same on the girls side, winning the 100 hurdles in 16.96 and the 300 in 48.78.

South Kitsap junior Renard Williams doubled up in the throwing events, winning the shot put with a throw 53 feet, 9 inches and the discus with a toss of 133 feet, 7 inches.

SK's Cedric Carter won the 200 in 22.47 seconds, besting the field by over a second, while North Kitsap's Dak Kongela won the 100 in 11.02.
