Tracksters ease into season at Omak meet THE CHRONICLE Mar 20, 2008

Omak and Okanogan spent last Friday competing against each other in track on the Pioneers’ field in an otherwise good workout for each team.


     “It was just kind of a practice meet,” said first-year Omak coach David Lamb. “That’s the way it’s been scheduled. We just look at it as an early practice meet with Okanogan - a meet to work the bugs out.”

     Omak’s Kaitlynn Pecha ran the race of her life to finish fifth overall at state cross country Nov. 3 at Sun Willow Golf Course in Pasco.
     The Pioneer girls’ team finished ninth.
     Pecha stayed with a lead pack before covering the 3.1-mile (5-kilometer) course in 20 minutes, three seconds. The time bested her time of 20:24 from last year, when she finished ninth.
     “Kaitlynn always runs her best when she has competition,” said her mother and Omak’s coach, Melody Pecha. “Her time this year was 21 seconds faster than last year. Through her four years of high school cross country she has improved each year.”
     Kaitlynn Pecha not only beat Chelan’s Gabby Guillen (9th, 20:23) but also Lakeside’s Kayloni Jones (8th, 20:20), who had topped Pecha at regionals by 11 seconds.
     They were the top three girls from the region.

Durkee, Pecha run at Mount Baker Invitational THE CHRONICLE Oct 01, 2007

 John Durkee, Omak, finished fourth in the open portion of the 32nd annual Mount Baker Invitational Sept. 29 at Silver Lake Park.
     Durkee covered the 3.2-mile course in 16 minutes, 55 seconds.
     Tim Pecha improved about a minute over his time from last year to finish eighth in 17:36.

 Omak Middle School’s cross country team returned with four ribbons from the 32nd annual Mount Baker Invitational Sept. 29.
     Omak’s boys, with the bare minimum required for a team, finished fifth overall.

Pecha wins Moses Lake Invitational cross country meet THE CHRONICLE Sep 25, 2007

Kaitlynn Pecha ran her best cross country race yet by sprinting past two Pasco runners and finishing first at the Moses Lake Invitational Sept. 15.
     Pecha, who held off a late charge from an Ephrata runner, ran her best time ever for 3.2 miles (five kilometers) in 20 minutes,
5 seconds.
     The girls’ team, which includes three freshmen in the top seven, finished two points behind
Cashmere.

Longmire runs to second cross country meet win THE CHRONICLE Sep 20, 2007

 Tonasket’s Jacob Longmire used a strong last half mile to pull out his second straight victory, this time at the Liberty Bell invitational Sept. 15.
     Tonasket won the boys’ cross country title over Oroville 26-29 over the 2.8-mile course at Pearrygin Lake State Park.

 Omak’s Kaitlynn Pecha set a course record in winning at the 41st annual Tonasket Cross Country Meet Sept. 8.
     Pecha covered the hilly, 2.8-mile course in 18 minutes, 32 seconds.
     Tonasket’s Jacob Longmire won the boys’ race, making him the third straight Tiger to do so at the invite. Tonasket’s meet was Longmire’s first cross country race.
     Girls’ team scores: 1, Omak 23. 2, Cascade 39.
