Washington Husky Invitational 2011

Western Washington University distance runner Sarah Porter has been named Great Northwest Athletic Conference Female Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week for Feb. 6-12. It is her fourth weekly honor in track and 10th overall as Porter also has been honored six times in cross country.

Seniors Hugo Beamish (Havelock North, New Zealand) and Brian Long (Louisville, Ky.) each registered personal best times with impressive runs in the 5000 meters at the Flotrack Husky Classic in Dempsey Indoor on Friday night. The two athletes are part of a small Villanova contingent running at this weekend's highly competitive West Coast meet.

Ohio Track & Field will have athletes running in two events this weekend. While the majority of Bobcat athletes will remain in Ohio for the Akron Invitational, distance runner Annie Beecham is set to take part in the prestigious 5K at the Husky Classic in Seattle.
