The Brooks PR Invitational brings together the nations top track and field athletes from across the country to compete at the Dempsey Center in Seattle, Washington, one of the fastest indoor tracks in the nation. The meet consists of seven events the 60 meter dash, 60 meter hurdles, 400 meter dash, 800 meter run, one mile run, and two mile run. The home state is well represented sending the most of any state, 20 athletes to nearby Seattle. Leading up to the meet we will spotlight these talented runners.      

Cross-Country State Championships 2007: Pasco, WA Justin Flores Nov 8, 2007

 Last Saturday, November 3, 2007, the Washington state cross-country championships were held at Sun Willows golf course in Pasco, WA. The day was a disappointment for many but a wondrous event for others. Ruby Roberts, sophomore, of Kingston High School took first in the Girls’ 2A division with a time of 18:39.The day was also a great victory for Bronwyn Crossman, senior, of Squalicum High School, who defended her title in the 3A Girls’ division with a time of 18:46.Miles Unterreiner, senior, of Gig Harbor High School also found great personal victory in Pasco this year, when he won the Boys’ 4A race with a time of 15:39.

— Bronwyn Crossman didn’t need to look over her shoulder this time. The Squalicum senior easily won her second straight Class 3A state cross country meet individual title on Saturday at Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco. “She’s the best I’ve ever coached,” said Storm coach Tim Irvin, who began coaching in 1977. “She’s tough as nails.” Crossman was never challenged in the 3-kilometer race. She broke away from the pack at the one-mile mark and had opened an insurmountable 30- second lead shortly after two miles.

SILVER LAKE — The Squalicum girls’ cross country squad did something on Saturday at the Mount Baker Invite no other team could lay claim to: the Storm placed four runners in the top 20. But that wasn’t enough to win the meet at Silver Lake Park. Squalicum finished a distant fourth to Veradale Central Valley.

The Squalicum junior raced to an easy victory on Saturday at Silver Lake Park and avenged last year\'s second-place finish. Crossman\'s time of 17 minutes, 39.62 seconds is the fastest since Sehome\'s Susannah Shaw set the 5K course record of 17:27 in 2002.
