Fort Warden Invitational sees records break and a great day.
Ballard HS Boys and Girls walked away with the entire trophy table Saturday at Fort Warden. Both Varsity teams took first place, all teams posted great times and watched some great performances.
Bevan Taylor of Bainbridge and Quinton Decker of Port Townsend both cracked the course record of 16:24. Bevan set first with a 16:19, 3 seconds ahead of PT. Alex Barkley of Ballard came in third leading his team to a first place post.
Bridget Berg of Ballard was a full 46 seconds ahead of the girls pack, finishing just 4 seconds shy of the course record and leading her team to a first place win.

Becca Doninger
Becca Doninger, an enthusiastic Port Angeles senior, won the Women's Junior varsity race at the Fort Worden Invite on October 7th with a time of 21:30. Doninger, who enjoys watching Conan O'Brian, started slow, and accelerated throughout the race. Becca said she "really paid attention to her mechanics on hills," and pushed her abilities the entire race. Becca is a promising young runner, and love Port Angeles's green color. Look for her at State this year.

Bevan Taylor
Bevan Taylor is a tall, soft spoken senior at Bainbridge High, broke the Fort Worden Invite course record on Saturday, 10/7, with a time of 16:20, besting the previous 16:24 high. Taylor, whose parents were at hand to watch the momentous occasion, has run throughout high school, and it is the only sport he participates in. Bevan "had no idea" of the course record, and was thrilled, as it was his PR. Bevan Taylor hopes to run at Willamette, and was pleased with the good competition and sportsmanship at the race.

Bridget Berg
Bridget is a tall, lanky junior from Ballard High School, and pulled the BHS girls to a victory at the Fort Worden Invite. Berg, who ran with a time of 19:34, concentrated on her arm movement to propel her to her win, finishing about a minute before the second competitor. Bridget loves to power up for her races by eating Peanut Butter and Banana sandwiches, and from listening to her teammates sing. As a junior, Berg still has one more year to prove that she is the most dominant female in the state.
