Freshman helps Panthers dominate three-team meet

EDMONDS - Another meet, another dominating performance by the Snohomish Panthers girls track team

 

Led by two wins by freshman Stephanie Cummings, the Panthers took first place in 12 of 18 events, defeating Cascade and Edmonds-Woodway Thursday in a non-conference meet at Edmonds Stadium.

Snohomish finished with 102 points, Cascade 48 and Edmonds-Woodway 38.

Cummings won the 100- and 200-meter dashes. Snohomish's Kara Sporrong took first in the 1,600 and second in the 800 behind teammate Sahar Bala.

Edmonds-Woodway's Jennifer Quick won the 100 hurdles and the pole vault.

Everett 75, Stanwood 65, Mountlake Terrace 45: At Everett, Annie Sittauer won the 100-meter dash and ran on all three winning relay teams to lead the Seagulls, who took home seven first-place finishes, to the non-league win.

Lake Stevens 117, Arlington 79, Jackson 48, Lynnwood 21: At Arlington, the Vikings had four firsts and 10 seconds to wrap up the non-league win. Arlington's Brooklyn Holton won the 100-meter hurdles, the long jump and the triple jump.

Marysville-Pilchuck 123, Oak Harbor 35, Meadowdale 22: At Marysville, Alex McDonald (100-, 300-meter hurdles), Kaylie Kimmell (3,200, 800) and Alisha Oden (long jump, 200) won two events each leading Marysville-Pilchuck to the non-conference win. Rachel Bennett won the shot put and discus for Meadowdale.

King's 137.67, Lakewood 89, Sultan 63.33, Coupeville 49, Granite Falls 28: At Shoreline, Olivia Thomas won the 800- and 3,200-meter runs and teammate Kimi Mayhle won the 100 and the long jump to lead King's to the Cascade Conference win. Sultan's Krystal Paszkeicz won the shot put and the discus.
