Gig Harbor girls win at Lake Washington

Gig Harbor High School track coach Kevin Eager has been waiting patiently for his girls team to perform to its ability.

The Tides finally seemed to do that Saturday at the annual Lake Washington Invitational, taking home the team title with 67 points. Bellarmine placed third (52), and Lincoln finished fifth (30.5).

“They did good today,” Eager said. “We haven’t been the kind of team that brought it in the big meets before. But today they were business-like. I got to see a team grow up and perform like I haven’t seen in two years, so it was fun.”

Gig Harbor won the 3,200 distance relay with a time of 9 minutes, 28.76 seconds, a meet record.

Lincoln sophomore hurdler Shaquana Logan also sparkled. Logan won the 300-meter hurdles in a time of 44.55 seconds, the fastest time in the state so far this season, and took second in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.0.
