4A Girls State Meet Day 1: Dailey 10:28.91, Walton 39-5.25 TJ

Garfield’s senior Anna Dailey went into her last high school 3200 wanting to break “10:30 and have fun.” She wasn’t rattled when Pasco’s Marisa Vander Malle took the early lead and gained twenty meters on her.  “I didn’t want to start too hard” said Dailey who was nursing a bad hamstring from interval work earlier in the season. She cruised to victory in 10:28.91 over Vander Malle’s 10:40.98 who set a Pasco school record. Dailey has the 1600 on Saturday then it is off to Stanford to run the Cardinal.

Bianca Walton from Tahoma moved into the Washington top 10 All-Time with her winning triple jump of 39-5.25. She displaces Fahren Thomas’s 39-4.75 from Henry Foss.  Inglemoor’s  Tess Parent finished second with an outstanding jumping of 38-10.0.
