3A Boys State Meet Day 2: Griffith 163-9 Discus, Berry 47.59 400m

State 3A leader Alex Griffith got the win today in the discus with a throw of 163-9. Prairie’s Jon Lawson made it interesting when his final throw landed near Griffith’s mark…when the measuring was done Lawson finished three inches shy with a 163-6.

Michael Berry from Rainer Beach ran a 47.59 400 meters in prelims today.

Montez McGee from West Seattle won the 110 meter hurdles with a 14.97 into that nasty headwind.

Tanner Lien from Bellevue won the javelin with a throw of 188-6

Freshman Marquis Davis from Rainier Beach won the long jump with 22-03 just one inch over second place Joshua Gordon from Liberty with a 22-02. Davis’s jump ties him for fourth on the all-time frosh list. The top four spots were each an inch apart, which has become the norm at jump pits this State Meet.
