Black Hills Wins 2A Boys Title

On strength of their speed on the track Black Hills won the 2A State Track Title Saturday in Tacoma with 61 points. The Wolves placed in the every sprinting event including the hurdle races. Trent Alsin won the 100 meters with an 11.42 and their 4x100 team was also crowned champion.

 

The Burlington-Edison 4x400 relay team set a new 2A meet-record with a 3:20.52 (the previous record 3:21.12 was set last year by Lynden.  Their victory helped B-E to a second place finish in the team standings with 47 points just a point ahead of Lynden and 5 points ahead of Mt. Baker.

 

In other action on Saturday…

 

Thomas Kassa from Anacortes won the 200 with a 22.01 into a headwind of 3.0 mph. 

The 2009 runner-up, Kody Cassidy from RA Long vaulted a 3-inch PR to win the 2010 edition of the Meet at 15-3. Teammate Brian Jackson vaulted 14­-6 to help RA Long get the 1-2 sweep in the pole vault.  2A pole vault competition was canceled on Friday due to weather conditions and was moved to Pacific Lutheran University on Saturday.

 

Sehome’s Ryan Macdonald added a discus gold medal and a 2A meet-record to go with the shot gold he got on Friday. His throw of 180-3 bested the previous record of 172-11 set by teammate Nelson Westlin in 2009.
