Sehome Wins 2A Girls Title

Sehome and Blaine continued their Northwest Conference rivalry at the State Meet finising 1-2 in the team standings. Sehome scored 68 to the 2009 champions, Blaine’s 53. The two schools had a great weekend winning ten of the eighteen events.

  

Sehome was led by jumper Zoe Miller winning both the long and triple jumps (16-11, and 35-8.25) and running on the winning 4x100 relay team with Sarah Vaughan, Shannon DeBacker and Jori Hall.  Annie Moore won the 800 in 2:15.02 and was on the winning 4x400 relay team with Christy Sanford, Madison Heilmann, and Jori Hall.

 

Cherish Morrison from Blaine is now an 8 times State Champion as a sophomore with repeat wins in the 100m, 200m, 400m, and 4x200m. She broke her own 2A State Meet record in prelims with a 56.29 (old record was 57.28.) "The 200 victory was the most memorable because of all the racing" said Morrison after three days and eight races. Rachael McKinstry, Hope Wilkett, and Robin Taylor were on the winning 4x200 with Morrison. Taylor also won the pole vault with an 11-3.
