Californian Camille Chapus topped a very impressive field in the Dream Mile, which was a part of the Adidas Grand Prix. Reagan Anderson led the field through the first lap in 60 seconds before giving way to Californian Alli Billmeyer, who ran splits of 2:24 & 3:35. Chapus’ tie of 4:42.71 was the best of the season & Colorado’s Eleanor Fulton earned second with 4;42, as she edged Billmeyer. Shelby Houlihan of Iowa placed fourth in 4:43 and Amy-Eloise Neale of Glacier Peak earned firth with a PR of 4:43.18. Kayla Beattie of Illinois finished sixth with 4:45 nipping Maddie Meyers of the Northwest School.
Lukas Verzbicas credited Jantzen Oshier’s effort in the guys’ race in aiding him to break four minutes in the mile. His time of 3:59.71 was not only good for the victory but he is only the fifth US prep to break the barrier. Jim Ryun, who the Dream Mile is named for, was the first. Austin Mudd moved up from the 800M to claim second in 4:01 & Elias Gedyon of California placed fourth with 4:02.08. Ed Cheserek of New Jersey & JAntzen Oshier, who had won at the Brooks PRI meet, took fifth.
