Northwest Round-Up April 28, 2012

There was a full week of competition in the region last week including the Centennial Invitational, which we covered in depth.  Sean Keller’s Washington State record of 244-01 in the Javelin is certainly worth repeating as was Alexa Efraimson’s 2:08 in the 800 Meters.  That race included 2:10 by Paige Rice & Anna Maxwell, which certainly made that a high performance meet.   Not to be overlooked was Anna Maxwell’s 4:32.74 in the 1500, which was the best time in years and nearly a record.

That said, there were numerous efforts of note in other places.  Marcus Dickson of White River in fact did not wait for the weekend and blitzed a 4:05 in the 1600M in a dual meet – a national leader!   Of course being in a dual meet the mark was hand-time but Marcus took care of that Shoreline, when he zipped to another national leader – this time in the 800 Meters.  His clocking of 1:49.45 was naturally a meet record but was just off the all-time state mark.   Hap Emmons of Kingston placed second in the event with 1:53.     Tatum Taylor of O’ Dea soared through the 100 Meters in 10.68 to make sure there were swift times at both ends of the running spectrum.   Kai Wilmot of North Central continued the parade of great times with his 8:57.56 in the 3200M, which saw Izaic Yorks of lakes place second in 9:05.  Joe Hardy of Seattle Prep dueled Korey Krotzer of Auburn Riverside, who signed with Oklahoma State, with Hardy getting the nod in 4:09.29.  Krotzer was barely behind in4:09.61 and Anthony Armstrong followed in a brisk 4:10.  All three runners appear in the national rankings as will Wilmot.     Drew Mathews of Skyline impressed with a 48.58 to top Ezekial McNeal of Federal Way, who ran 49.45.   The 300 Hurdles went to Aaron Persinger, who ran 38.82 for Federal Way.  Austin Hitchcock of Todd Beamer followed with 39.99 and Persinger placed second in the 100 Hurdles behind Kaid Tipton Kentridge ’s 14.99.
