Northwest Review 10

The most crucial part of the road to State was traversed last week in Oregon and Washington.  Happily there were no major casualties and the results served to more than suggest that the festivities in Eugene and Pasco next Saturday will be quite exciting.   Both venues will offer competition with national implications.   What follows is a cursory review of the major action in both states.

 

                                                                Oregon

                                                Mount Hood Conference

Paige Rice won the individual title with an impressive time of 17:45.  She was followed by her team mate Ellen Patterson, who ran a PR in 18:03.   The entire St. Mary’s squad has to be encouraged as they each ran personal best times and they will head to State knowing that they can contend for a state title.   Lacey Conner (18:20) earned fourth and should place well at State and the rest of the team is coming on at the right time.  Kennedy Allen of David Douglas earned a trip to state as a freshman with her third place effort of 18:13.   The Rams of Central Catholic dominated their race with Kyle Thompson leading the way with his winning time of 15:24.  CC also had solid efforts from Sam Lomax (4th – 16:01), Daniel Thompson (6th – 16:12), Dante Dalla Gasperina (7th – 16:13) & Jean Baptiste Tooley (8th – 16:12).   Jackson Haselnus of Barlow made a statement with his second place finish in 15:49 and Taylor Hybl of Centennial took third with 15:54 despite problems near the end of the race.

                                                Mid-Willamette District

MaryKate McGuire continued her break-out season with a solid victory here with a time of 18:19.  Malika Waschmann of Corvallis was second with 18:55.  Maclean Panshin of Corvallis led the guys with 16:35, which gave him a two second margin over Jonathan Sisley of Silverton & four seconds over Keet Dailey of Corvallis.

 

                                                Metro League Championship

The Jesuit girls showed that they can be a force at state with their victory over Sunset, while the guys were even more dominant in their race.  As solid as they were neither team had the individual champion

As Charlotte Corless led the gals with 17:52 Ellie Kallgren ran her ever-dependable race earning second in 17:55 and Erin Gregoire of Beaverton placed third in 18:00.   Dylan Hite garnered fourth for the Crusaders in 18:04 and she was backed by solid performances by the rest of the team including Megan Mullaney & Taylor Moscoe.     Nicole Griffiths & Sarah Fahmy also turned in creditable performances for Sunset taking fifth & sixth respectively.    Dan Oekerman of Beaverton made sure every took notice of his race by storming home in 15:14, which gave him plenty to spare in spite of Josh Sealand ’s fine time of 15:42 for Jesuit.  Tanner Smith of Lincoln earned 4th for Lincoln in 15:42 & Sam Remington added a fifth place effort for the Crusaders with 15:49.

 

                                                Three Rivers league

Ella Donaghu & Parkes Kendrick led Grant as the Generals over-powered their adversaries.  Kenny O’ Neill earned her fourth trip to State with her third place time of 18:56 & Piper Donaghu of Grant took fourth.  Julian Heninger of Lakeridge topped the guys’ field with 16:19 & Todd Macdonald finished second.

 

                                                Southwest Conference

The young ladies from South Eugene showed that they are intent on retaining their 6A title and Sara Tsai & Erin Clark also made it clear that they will be formidable in the individual race as well with their times of 17:31 & 17:32.  Maggie Schmaedick lamed it clear, that she could have something to say individually as well with her third place effort of 17:34 Gracie Todd of Sheldon came in fourth & Phacelia Cramer took fifth ahead of Gracie Tostenson of Crater.   Jackson Darland of Sheldon continued his strong season with a victory here in 16:05, while Kenny Freeman of Roseburg followed in 16:09.  T J Wright of Sheldon finished a second later.

                                                CVC Championship                                         

Brooke Chuhlantseff won this District at Bush Pasture Park in Salem with her time of 18:22.  The West Salem freshman raced away from her competition, which included Vivian Hawkinson of South Salem, who ran 20:10.  Nathaniel Roberts of Sprague scored in the guys’ race with 16:32 & Jacob  Atkinson, also from Sprague, took second in 16:41.

                                                PIL District

Franklin runner Jackson Packham scored in this 5A qualifier at Lents Park in Portland with his mark of 15:57 and Cleveland’s Nabi Amin crossed the line second with 16:02 to edge his team mate Adrian Hinkle by a second.  Emma Wren ran 18:52 and Cleveland also garnered a 2nd, when Bryn McKillop ran 19:13.   Cleveland & Franklin went 1 – 2 in both the boys’ & girls’ races.

 

                                                Midwestern League District

J P Kiefer ran 16:28 and Monica Anderson was timed in 18:59 as Marist garnered both individual titles as well as the girls’ team race.  Marshfield, led by Dakota Pittullo & Colby Gillett, edged Marist in the team race 35 to 39.

 

                                                NWOC District

Taryn Rawlings of Wilsonville earned her third trip to State with his victory in 18:47.  Rachel Khaw of Liberty and Sasha Gonzalez Milwaukie placed 2nd & 3rd.   Ty James of Wilsonville won with 15:56 & his teammate Ben Thomas took second in16:10.

 

                                                CO District – Bend

This race Friday at Riverbend Park witnessed the up-front power of Summit, when Travis Neuman, Eric Alldritt & Mathew Maton swept the top three places with times if 16:29.   Piper McDonald of Summit led the Storm girls with her title in 19:00.   Hannah Gindelsperger followed her teammate with 19:16.  The Summit guys had a low of 18 points to easily win the team race & their female counterparts scored with 33 points.

                                                CRC District

Hood River was the place to be Saturday, where Hermiston flexed its muscles with a top four sweep and a low of 19 points.  Eduardo Juarez & Jose Macias were both credited with 16:26, while Efrain Jaime & Alejandro Cisneros were right behind in 16:27.   Alex Ferder of Pendleton was the first non-Bull Dog in the field with his 16:39.  HRV runner Grace Grim annexed the girls’ title with 18:18 and Maggie Coleman of Hermiston finished 2nd in 18:38.  Sascha Bockius of Hood River ran 18:50 & Katie Markwick of Hermiston was 4th in 18:57, while Delaney Clem led Pendleton.

                                Far West League Championship

Siuslaw displayed up-front power as well as depth by sweeping the top five places and six of the top eight.  Matthew Campbell zipped home in 15:30 and Mitchell Butler was only a second behind him.  Mark Marbas, Hayden Schaffner & Brian Graber  all topped the best from other teams.  Katy Potter of Siuslaw led a 1 – 2 – 3 sweep by Siuslaw with her winning mark of 18:25.

 

                                                                Washington

                                                    Westside Classic – American Lake

This was the big one, when it comes to qualifying and there was no bigger race than that of the 4A girls, which saw a duel between Alexa Efraimson of Camas (17:52) & Jordan McPhee of Mt. Rainier, who ran 18:25.  Alissa Pudlitzke of Camas ran a fine18:36 on the challenging course & Alexis Fuller of Union placed 4th with 18:40.   Camas impressed with their low of 29 points, while Tahoma edged Bellarmine Prep 71 to 83.    Wolfgang Beck of Gig Harbor scored among the guys with his 15:33 clocking and Mark Tedder of Battle Ground placed 2nd in 15:41.  Logan Carroll of Gig ran 15:44 to edge Colby Gilbert of Skyview by a second and Peter Kesting of Olympia was 5th in 15:49.   Tahoma edged Gig harbor for the boys’ title 93 to 96.

    Nicole Goecke was a runaway winner in the 3A race with 18:46 & her Prairie teammates topped Peninsula 42 to 58.  Reagan Colyer of North Kitsap defeated Kathleen Ramsey by over twenty seconds to win the 2A title and Sally Larson of Cedar Park Christian won her duel with Northwest School’s Hazel Carr 18:46 to 19:02.  In the other boys’ races Cody Williams of Shelton led the field with his 16:27, as Austin Blankenship of Columbia River took 2nd in 16:27.  Mohamud Abdi of Lindbergh led the A guys with 6:19 with Nehemiah Pierce of Franklin Pierce following in 16:28.   Tom Bradley of Blaine won the closest duel of the day, when he crossed the finish line in 16:02 with Dillon Quintana of Mt. Baker only five seconds further back.

                                                District II – 3A Sea –King Championship

Seattle prep’s Joe heady scored with 15:25 and Andrew Foerder of Nathan Hale took second in 15:38.  Third went to Spike Sievert of Bellevue in 15:43 & Keenan Piper was fourth in 15:55.   Andrea Masterson was the fastest of the girls’ with her mark of 18:30.

                 

                                                District IV  - 2A

Poli Baltazar left no doubt in this race with his mark of 15:30.  Washougal’s Sean Eustis & Isaac Stinchfield claimed second & third.  Melissa Starr of mark Morris                                         

 

CBBN District VI Championship

The guys were swift here with four runners under 15:40 led by Drew Schreiber’s 15:31.  The Eisenhower harrier had only a three second margin over Cole Christian of Wenatchee despite his swift time.  Jesus Medina of Ike ran 15:38, while Tristan Cunderla & Austin lane of Wenatchee earned 4th & 5th.  Gage Benner of Eisenhower placed 6th in 15:48 & A C Davis runner Bryan Islas was 7th in 15:56.   Elise Tello of Eisenhower was easily the best of the girls’ with 18:19.

 

                                                                Richland 4A Regional

Two-time Foot Locker finalist Andrew Gardner rolled at Richland with his stunning mark of 14:52.  Sumner Goodwin of Lewis & Clark zipped home in 15:06 and Sean Newcomb of Walla Walla took third with 15:30.  Logan Giese added a fourth place finish (15:32) for champion Central Valley and Travis Thorne of Ferris was next with 15:41.  It was not a day to be far off your ‘A’ game but Kyler Goins of Lewis & Clark, Michael Williams of Richland & Ben Wolpert of Walla Walla all made it through with times of 15:50 or better.   Lindsey Bradley of Richland led the girls with 18:07 and Gracie Ledwith of L & C was second in 18:51.  Lauren Perry of Richland followed in third with 19:02 and Courtney Cox of WW was fourth in 19:20.  Richland topped Gonzaga prep 47 to 74.

Katie Knight of North Central scooted home in the girls’ race in 17:48 but Megan Beauchene led Kamiakin to the team title with 18:21.   Makenna Endebrock of Mt. Spokane ran 18:56 for third & Michelle Fletcher of Kamiakin added a fourth place time of 19:04.   Kai Wilmot did not run, yet North Central still won individual & team honors with Tanner Anderson leading the way in 15:13.  John Dressel of Mt. Spokane garnered second in 15:20, which gave him three seconds over Keith Williams of NC.  Nicholas Hauger of Shadle Park claimed fourth in 15:34 & Austin Oser of Kamiakin took fifth in 15:38.

                                                                Lakewood Regional Action

Emily Pittis of Sehome ran 18:37 and Brittany Gappa, who has struggled of late with physical issues, finished second in 18:58.  The Sehome girls won with 28 points.  Patrick Gibson led the 2A guys with 15:41 for Squalicum and Devon Grove of Lake Washington was 2nd in 15:56.  Conner Johnson of Sehome was third with 15:58 & Logan Orndorf of Cedarcrest followed a second later.  The team results looked like a Bellingham City meet with Sehome, Squalicum & Bellingham taking the top three places.

     Once again Amy-Eloise Neale was not pressed in Washington with her clocking of 17:13 & Katie Bianchini pursued her once again in second with 18:02.  Haley Suarez of Meadowdale took third in 18:30 ahead of Mikayla Ingram, who was the third Glacier Peak runner.   Connor Jungkuntz of Ferndale won the boys’ version with 16:05 & Carter Osborne of Shorecrest placed second in16:13.    As expected Glacier Peak won the girl’s team race but Oak Harbor topped Glacier Peak 67 TO 77.  

    In 4A action Chandler Olson of Woodinville led the girls with 18:22and Olivia Mancl of Roosevelt & Kyra Burke of Inglemoor earned the next two places.  Jamie Coughlin of Garfield stopped Aaron Roe’s bid to win as a sophomore by finishing four seconds ahead in 15:40.  Keegan Symmes of Skyline garnered third in 15:51 and Cameron Stanish of Garfield edged Jack Griffing of Edmonds-Woodway by two seconds with his mark of 15:57.  Kamiak won the team race but Roe’s Henry Jackson team placed 2nd with 136 points.  Roosevelt edged Snohomish in the girls’ race 112 to 113.

                               

                                                                Idaho State Meet

Elijah Armstrong of Pocatello is only a freshman, yet he is already a two-time State champion after last Saturday’s mark of 15:34 was recorded on the challenging course in Lewiston.   Sam Levora of Sandpoint claimed second in 15:49 and Ryden Crowther was third.  Pocatello won the team title with a low of 56 points to easily defeat Kuna, which had 107.   Haydin & Driztin Herndon                added 4th & 5th place finishes for Pocatello.   Rachel McGovern of Pocatello led the girls’ in this her freshman season with a time of 18:24, which easily topped the 18:58 of Jasmine Nesbitt of Jerome.   Middleton, which was led by the third place finish of Lina Schell (19:08) won the girls’ race by defeating Preston 86 to 90.  Hannah McInturff of Century ended her fine XC career with a sixth place finish.

      Dwain Stucker of Meridian edged Thomas Rigby of Boise with both being credited with versions of 15:42.  David Steele placed third for Capital in 15:54 & led his team to a second place finish.  Justin Ross finished fourth in 16:011 but had the satisfaction of leading his Rocky Mountain team to victory 57 to 89.   Emily Hamlin defended her 5A crown with an 18:09, which was the top female time of the day.  Josie Brown of Coeur d’ Alene placed second in 18:13 & her team romped to a 29 to 87 verdict over Vallivue.  Mikayla Malaspina of Vallivue claimed third in 18:21 edging Presli Hutchinson of Highland & Punky Duran of CDA by less than a second.  Kara Story & Emily Callahan added 5th & 6th for CDA & Sara Christianson of Borah placed 8th in 18:40.Dana Snell of Rocky Mountain & Krista Story of Vallivue rounded out the top ten & Cheryn Trapp of Vallivue followed in 11th.  Others of note were Lila Klopfenstein of Meridian (12th), Paige Dilmore of Rocky Mountain (14th) and Sam Mckinnon, who was coming back after an injury, of Mountain View (17th).

     Olivia Redd of Sugar-Salem was the only runner in the 3A division under nineteen minutes with her 18:33 & Rachel Youren of Gooding just missed with her second place effort.  Sugar-Salem won with 39.  Caleb Moosman of Teton topped the guys with 16:18 but Joseph Van Orden & James Withers of Snake River were right behind in 16:20.  Teton edged Sugar-Salem by two points in the 3A race with 68 points.                2A titles went to Sierra Manzer of Melba in 18:12 and Conrad Larson of Victory Charter, who ran 16:08.  Second place efforts were recorded by Kelsey Yamauchi of Soda Springs, edging her team mate Cierra Simmons by four-tenths of a second, and Paul Ryan of Logos, who ran 16:15.  Soda Springs scored in the girls’ race with 27, while Logos topped the guys’ team race with 56.

                                                                                 Indiana State Meet

This was already noted separately but Anna Rohrer’s victory in 17:13 over Ashley Erba (17:29) deserves

to be noted again.  Bobbie Burgess placed third in 17:51 and Mackenzie Caldwell was fourth in 17:56. Bethany Neeley was under the former course record with 18:04, while Anna Aldrich did not miss by much with her 18:111, yet placed sixth.   Connor Sorrells ran a smart race to come from behind to over-take Zach panning.  Sorrells won with 15:21 & Panning had 15:26.  Troy Reeder placed third in 15:28 & Jackson Bertoli followed in fourth with 15:34.   Kyle Eller earned fifth in 15:35 & Jacob Poyner took sixth in 15:39.

                                                                                      North Dakota

Jake Leingang won his third straight individual title in 15:09.  The Foot Locker finalist led his Bismarck team once again to a championship.  Sebastian Startz of Fargo Shanley finished second with 16:03 on a tough day with temperatures below freezing.   Bismarck also claimed a title in the girls’ individual race, when Brittany Brownotter left the pack late on way to a 4K time of 14:47.  Alexi Zeis, also from Bismarck, earned second in 14:52.              

 

                `                                               Maine State Meet

Bethanie Brown of Waterville had the best time of the day for the ladies with her swift 17:56 in Class B.  Erzsebet Nagy won Class A with 18:50.   Dan Curtis of Ellsworth edged Silas Eastman of Fryeburg Academy with both sharing 15:47, as the next runner, Ben Trapani, followed in 16:36.  Jack Pierce won Class C with 15:57 & Cam Nadeau led ‘A’ with 16:36.

 

                                                                Vermont State Meet

Ellie Purrier led Division 3 with 18:37 & Taylor Spillane ran 19:07 to claim D1.  Mark Brandmeyer led D1 with 16:37, while Dan Grosvenor topped D2 with 16:39.  None of the four were truly challenged.

 

                                                                New Hampshire State Meet

Jeremy Brassard of Coe-Brown scored in D2 with 16:08 & B J Smith of Concord topped DI with 16:06.

 

                                                                Colorado State Meet

Jordyn Colter was the prohibitive favorite in 5A and she ran that way early before being forced to drop out of the race.   Erin Hooker seemed to be the logical next choice but she had a bad day, so Heather Bates of Pine Creek stepped to the front a scored a surprising triumph in 18:16.  Emma Gee was a distant second in 18:59.   Ashi Geberkidane of Denver East secured the boys’ title with 16:21 while Clayson Shumway of Liberty earned 2nd in 16:30.  Alec Brudzinski of Cherry Creek was 7th in 16:49.

    Elise Cranny won 4A with 18:41 and Eli Hemming of Ponderosa led the guys with 16:30.

 

                                                                Michigan Regionals

Like Indiana, there is a wealth of talent this fall in Michigan and last week’s Regional races merely created greater anticipation for the State Meet.  Julia Bos won Region 13 with a stellar 17:18 and Erin Finn claimed Region 7 with 17:50.  It will be a match next weekend between the two Foot Locker finalist but not to be counted out are Kenzie Weiler of Cedar Springs (17:33) & Gabby Thivierge of Rochester Adams (17:57).  Megan O’ Neill of Chippewa Hills ‘only’ finished second in her regional with a fine 17:55. Others to watch are Brooke Kovacic (18:07) and Region 2 winner Claire Brasure.

     There is a great deal to like on the guys’ side as well with Nick Raymond of Erie mason recording the best time of the day with 15:15 in R13.  Tanner Hinkle won R23 in 15:30, while Jeff Bajema of Grand Rapids led R2 with 15:34.   He was not far ahead of Esrom Woldemichael (15:39) & Enael Woldemichael (15:55) from his own team.   Another to watch is Nathan Burnand of Waterford Mott (15:52 – R7) & Nick Vanderkooi of Fremont Providence, who ran 15:49 to win R30.  Alex Whitmer ran 15:51 to finish second behind Hinkle.   Needed to be watched  is the R9 group, which features T J Carey of Lake Orion, who won with 15:18.  The supporting cast was quite solid, as Stephen Biebelhausen (15:45), Jason Saliga (15:50), Trevor Sharnas (15:51) Andrew Nelson (15:52) and Alec Toreki  (15:54) all can be consider possibilities.  The last four runners are all from Romeo, so you have to like their team’s shot at a title.  Last but hardly least is the R19 quintet, which is led by its champion Connor Mora, who ran 14:54 for Cedar Springs.  Clark Ruiz chipped in with a swift 15:16 and Luke Johnson was third with 15:43.  Also with legitimate credentials are Austin Sargent (15:50) of Cedar Springs & Clarence Howard (15:55) of Gaylord.

 

                                                                                California

                                                                        Ventura County

Sara Baxter followed up her scintillating record at Mt SAC with a victory here in 17:15.   Although eleven seconds of the course record here it did tie her for second place on the course list with Liberty Miller.   Sahm Bazargan of Oak Park ran 15:25 to edge his teammate Patrick Thedinga by two seconds.

 

                                                                                Massachusetts

                                                                North Eastern Conference

Foot Locker finalist Catrina Rocha ran 17:22 to break the old record by 23 seconds.  While that in itself is impressive, the fact that the record was set by Shalane Flanagan especially makes the eyes open wider.  Peter hale of Swampscott triumphed among the guys with 16:06.  

 

                                                                                Virginia

                                                                Concorde District

Sean McGorty, yet another Foot Locker finalist last year, blitzed the course in Fairfax Station to the tune of 14:38.  Allie Klimkiewicz battled Macey Schweikert before pulling ahead just prior to the line to win by a second in 17:36. 

 

                                                                Colonial District

Matthew Novak (Deep Run) took charge here with his mark of 15:55 and upset Ronnie Calkins of Douglas Freeman.   Rachel Galton of Maggie Walker scored in the girls’ race with 18:21.

 

                                                                Patriotic District

Sophie Chase continues on her charge back to San Diego with a swift 17:02 victory at Burke Lake Park.  Caroline Alcorta followed with an excellent time of 17:09, while Hannah Christian (17:34) & Katie Roche (17:39) added 3rd & 4th place finishes for lake Braddock & couple with their leader Chase ‘s time annexed the team race.   Nick Tuck of LB scored in the boys’ race with 15:11.  Anteneh Girma of T C Williams placed 2nd in 15:36 & Alec Jones of South County was 3rd with 15:42.

 

                                                                National District

This was also held at Burke Lake and Luis Colson got the victory in 15:30.  Jennifer Flack ran 17:48 to top the gals.

                                                                River Ridge District

Nick Link won with a solid 15:47.

 

                                                                West Virginia State meet

Jacob Burcham secured his third AAA State title in a time of 14:58.04.  The Foot Locker finalist from Cabell Midland set a new course record with his time.  Matthew Brafford of George Washington placed second in a fine 15:42 and Avery Campbell took third with 15:58.   Amelia Paladino ran 17:47 to secure the girls’ title by 36 seconds.

    In AA action Maggie Drazba claimed her third State title with a strong 17:17, which brought her far ahead of the second place finisher, who ran 19:23.   Dylan Rich ran 16:12 to win the boys’ division.

 

                                                                North Carolina Regional

Darby Middlebrook, the 2010 State champion, dropped out with a leg injury opening the door to Brooke Gordon, who won with 18:09.  Wyatt Maxey ran 15:43 to take the guys’ race nipping Patrick Sheehan by only a second.

 

                                                                Kansas State Meet                                                         

Alli Cash won her second straight title 5A with a facile victory in 14:02 for 4K.  Her time was just off her own course record, which she set last year at Rim Rock.  The Olathe East girls won the team title for the third straight year but that is nothing in comparison with Shawnee Mission Northwest, which won its 21st team title I the boys’ race.   Now that is a dynasty!   Colton Donahue won the individual title with 15:22 and Sam Guinn finished second in 15:41. 

     Curtis Cline swept the 5A title in 15:58.   Nick Boyles placed third in 16:07 to lead Thomas Aquinas to a 2nd place finish behind Bishop Carroll.   Aquinas reversed the decision in the girls’ team race, however.                                                                

                                                                Wisconsin State Meet

Ryan Kromer Hudson triumphed with a time of 15:27 with a ten second margin over McKenna Ramos of Sheboygan, who in turn edged Ryan Nemeth of Verona, who was credited with the same time.   Defending champion Chandler Diffee ran 15:44 placing fifth.  Madison West, which was led by the sons of Tim Hacker, Olin & Wilson, brought home the team trophy with a low of 80 points.   Madison La Follette, which was led by Diffee, placed second.   The time among the girls was turned in by McKaela Christenson of Baraboo, who was timed in 14:12 in Division I.  Aubrey Roberts had the second best time in the Division & in the state with 14:16.  The young ladies, who took the next places in the division (Jackie Dubnicka – 14:24, Jessica Parker – 14:26, Rachel Werking – 14:27 & Katie Hietpas – 14:29) could all have triumphed in the other divisions.  

 

                                                                North Carolina Regionals

Ian Milder of Mount Tabor ran 15:38 to win 4A Midwest and Dalcon Nickel of MT finished 2nd in 15:46.  Chris Reeder topped 3A Mideast with 15:58, while the best girls’ time of the day was turned in by Kayla Montgomery of Mount Tabor, who was clocked in 18:31. 

 

                                                                Missouri Sectionals

Hannah Long won at Chesterfield with 18:03.  Angie Sumner followed with 18:55.  Kristen Adams won Class IV with 18:22   Alex Riba scored earned first place at Edwardsville with 15:40 & Patrick Perrier followed in 15:48.   Sydney Neal was the best of the girls with 19:02.

Nick Ellswick, a junior from Chardon, continued his string of victories with a victory here in D1 in 15:47 despite the muck.  Mark Hadley of Boardman was but a third of a second behind & Garrett Crichlow of Twinsburg finished third with 15:53.   Wash Jesuit topped mentor in the team struggle.   Alexandra Markovich of Hawken earned the girls’ D2 victory with 19:04.  In D3 Kyle Polman finished second in 15:54, as Cory Glines of Thomas Aquinas got the win. The Gilmour guys won the team title with 47 points to Berkshire’s 102.  Corinne Kule of Chardon scored in D1 in 19:01 & Solon’s Geneva Sandridge was a surprising second ahead of her team mate Therese Haiss, who took third in 19:13.

Westerville’s Jacob Dumford & Kent Ford went 1 – 2 with both credited with versions of 15:51.  Leah Wallace of Reynoldsburg led the girls with 18:44.  

 

                                                                   Tiffin Regional

Dan Zupan of Berea led the way in D1 with 16:00 but St. Ignatius runners swept the next three places, as Joe Arquillo (16:04), Jack Miller (16:06) & Luke Wagner (16:09) displayed Iggy ’s power up front.  Janelle Noe of Sylvania Northview won by ten second with her 18:32.

Sam Wharton of Tippecanoe topped a fast field with his mark of 15:37 & Michael Hall of St. Xavier was on his heels with 15:39.  Xavier runners Jake Grabowski (15:49) & Evan Stifel (15:52) swept the next three places before Tom Clark of Mason broke the string with 15:53.  Annie Heffernan of Cincinnati St. Ursula topped the D1 girls with 17:57.   Jacqueline Crow of Lebanon came in 2nd with 18:15.  Mary Kate Vaughn of Oakwood won D2 with the best time of the day – 17:51 and Samuel Prakel too D3 with 16:00.

                                                     Suburban Council Meet

The Saratoga Blue Streaks lived up to their name by taking positions 1 -2 – 4 -8 & 13 on their way to a total of 28 points.  Burnt Hills was a distant 2nd with 63.  Taylor Driscoll & Keelin Hollowood showed Saratoga the way with Driscoll winning in 17:29 & Hollowood following in 17:42.  Maryanna Lansing of Shaker placed 3rd by catching Olivia Morrow of Saratoga.  Andrew Tario of Averill Park earned the victory in 15:21 & Dan Janeczko of Shenendehowa followed in 15:29.  Stephen Booker of Bethlehem came in third with 15:33.  Tooker of Saratoga followed in 4th with 15:43.

 

                                                Monroe County Championship

Katie Lembo of Penfield received a stiff battle from Kennedy Jensen of Canandaigua but prevailed with her winning mark of 17:31.  Jensen was 2nd in 17:44 Georgia Tuttle of Irondequoit followed in 18:05.   Tyler Ranke sped home in 15:42 for a six second margin over Josh Dyrland of Irondequoit.  Keith Pease of Gates Chili took third in 15:52 & Jack Wesley was the last runner to break sixteen with his 15:56.

Ryan Manahan of Marcellus won again with 16:27 & Ryan Perry of Hannibal earned second.                                                       

CNYCL National Race

Alex Peinkofer of Baldwinsville topped Dan Muldoon of Liverpool 15:39 to 15:41.   Abigail McNamara of Liverpool won the girls’ race with 18:18.

Nick Tyler of South Jefferson won the 40th edition in 16:29 & Meghan Tanner of Adirondack ran 19:10 to score on her own course.

                                                      WPIAL Championship

Brent Kennedy of Kiski scored with 15:59.  Brianna Schwartz of Shaler led the girls with 18:32.

Foot Locker champion Edward Cheserek of St. Benedict ‘s Prep broke his own course record at Brookdale Park with 14:18 & Chris Shim of Millburn took 2nd in 16:03.  Juliet Kohli of St. Dominic led the girls in 18:28.

 

                                                Skyland Conference Championship

Liam Mullett broke the course record at Natirar Park with his mark of 15:42. Nick McFarland of Hillsborough followed in second in 15:54.  The girls’ record was also taken down, when Marissa Ruskan of Bridgewater-Rartan crossed the finish line in 17:49.  The second & third place times of Jillian Kelly (17:53) & Kelly Janokowicz (17:56) were also quite strong.

Jake Riff led the way with 15:48 and Grace Dwyer scored against the girls with 18:13.

 

                                                Shore Conference Championship

Tom O’ Neill ran 15:03 to win here.
