Renton senior Dar\'rell Wright will not be allowed to run in the 110-meter hurdles at the Class 3A West Central District track and field meet after all.

Seamount League King Division athletic directors overturned a vote by coaches to reinstate Wright after he was disqualified because he swore after winning the 110s at last Friday\'s division meet at Highline Stadium.

``It\'s real disappointing,\'\' Wright said. ``I could have won league, and probably district. I was looking forward to state. I could have scored some points for us, that\'s the bad part.\'\'

Wright was intially disqualified during Friday\'s meet after he muttered a swear word that was heard by nearby judge. Under Washington Interscholastic Activities Association rules, an athlete who swears is automatically disqualified. Wright said he swore in frustration after seeing his teammate, friend and training partner Cole Sandahl sprawled on the track after tripping over one of the hurdles.

``It was just a natural reaction,\'\' Wright said. ``I wanted him to get some help.\'\'

The league coaches gathered after the meet, and the majority voted to pass Wright through to the district meet that starts today at Sumner\'s Sunset Chev Stadium.

Wright will compete in the 300 hurdles, but his better event is the 110s.

``I don\'t think the punishment fits the crime,\'\' Renton coach Lance Winmill said. ``We\'ll move on and do the best we can.\'\'
