• Doug Holt of Woodinville and Sarah Lord of Redmond raced to victories in the KingCo 4A championships at Lincoln Park in Seattle. Holt won the 3.1-mile boys race by 20 seconds, in 15:40. Lord (18:15), a sophomore, won by nine seconds over Bothell\'s Paige Patillo in the girls race. Roosevelt (75 points) barely edged Juanita (75) for the boys team title. Eastlake (42) and Redmond (46) dominated girls competition.
• Skyline\'s Matt Frerker was a runaway boys winner and Newport\'s Jillian Altizer edged Caroline Wright of Bellevue for the girls title in the KingCo 3A championships at Lake Sammamish State Park in Issaquah. Frerker ran 3.1 miles in 15:34, finishing 44 seconds ahead of the runner-up Simon Sorenson of Skyline. They led the Spartans to a convincing team championship. Altizer won in 19:09, five seconds faster than Wright, whose Bellevue team (55 points) edged Mercer Island (60) for the girls title.
