REDMOND ON A ROLL

The wave of green and gold singlets gliding through the finish chute on Sept. 26th was somewhat of a tidal wave as the Redmond girls and boys varsity and JV boys swept the six-team meet at Finn Hill Junior high. The girls went 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, led by the 1-2 punch of junior Sarah Lord and sophomore Devin McMahon. The Lady Stangs are currently sitting 4th in the state coaches poll and are currently undefeated in regular season league meets.

On the boys side, senior Anthony Ellis led Redmond to victory. Junior Aiden Irish followed in 2nd with fellow sophomore teammates, Mack Young and Will Young (no relation) in 7th and 8th.
In the JV boys race, Huw Stradling, Marcus Zeitz and Collin Chatterley went 1-3, all running seasonal bests. Also, in the girls JV race Brianna May, Jaqui Vautin and Emi Obarra finished 1-3.

Eariler in the season, on September 15th, the girls placed 5th at the South Whidbey Invite despite the absence of their #2 and #4 runners, Sarah Lord and senior Chelsea Smith. McMahon finished 3rd in 18:30. On the boys side, Ellis paced the Mustangs to a strong 4th place finish with a time of 15:52. Class 4A powers Gig Harbor and Snohomish went 1-2 followed by 2A WA state #1 Sehome.
On September 22nd, at the first annual Tomahawk Twilight meet, hosted by Marysville-Pilchuck HS, the varsity boys & girls and JV boys took home first place team trophies. Ellis and Irish finished 2nd and 4th respectively on the rolling course at Cedarcrest Golf Course. On the JV boys side, Tyler Dougherty took home 1st place in 18:05, which earned him a promotion to the varsity race at Finn Hill Junior high this past week. Tyler shaved 21-seconds off his previous seasonal best, clocking 17:44. On the varsity girls side, McMahon finished 3rd with Lord right behind her.
The Mustangs will travel to Richland on October 6th for the prestigious Richland Invite and then close out the regular season on October 11th in a showdown with Eastlake, the girls currently ranked 5th right behind Redmond.
