First off happy easter to all the dedicated runners who are reading. And I hope no one is making the excuse that "today is a holiday so i will take one day off" :) everyday is a day to get better!

The last couple of weeks consisted of some difficult workouts, example: 2x(1600,1200,800,400,200) at PR 2 mile pace. But I also had a great 14 mile tempo like run. So training has been better than ever, but unfortunately my race day times have not indicated my work yet.

Our first meet I ran just an 800 which my goal was to neg. Split a 1:54 for a pr but it started off bad. I went through the 400 in 60 seconds so I knew I wouldnt hit the time and I ran 1:59. At the second meet, we ran at the state meet track that is notorious for heavy winds. That day was no exception. I ran a 1600m in 4:30 and a 4x400 split of 54. So two meets that were very subpar is how I started my season!! But I'm not to worried because we have till may.

I have a twin sister, her name is Shannon Moskowitz. I can honestly say she is my biggest support. She has amazing talent as she has placed 4th in cross country her junior year and  placed 7th in the 800m at state as well. But her senior year of cross was plagued by iron deficiency that caused her to DNF at the state meet. But as a strong competitor and hard worker she has come back strong and has started this track season feeling 100% again.

She's gonna do big things this season.

As training goes most of the team at Central Kitsap High School usually do everything together unless it's a recovery day and we run off campus in groups. Me and Shannon on the other hand give eachother lots of tips on training and are always watching out for each others diets. And on occasion we do our weekend long runs together.

My next journal should be more exciting because we have a big race coming up I hope to run well at it.

My name is Shane Moskowitz and I run for Central Kitsap High School in Silverdale, Washington.

I started running in seventh grade after failing at multiple sports! I played basketball for three years and wasn't any good at it; I played baseball for 5 years and was even WORSE!! So I had no place to go from there and had no idea track and field was a sport until I started the seventh grade. I always enjoyed running the mile in PE so I decided to try it out and the rest is history…….

Since my very successful cross country season has ended I have been mostly busy on trying out new types of training which actually failed.. and recently showed the effects of that poor training at a subpar showing at the USA junior cross country championships. I placed 15th in my first 8k and I had a lot of fun so it was a pretty good weekend. I ran on the baron striders team which came out with a win ( I think we were only competing against one other team though) ha ha.

I'm on a good plan now and getting ready for my first outdoor track race of the season tomorrow at a local jamboree where I'm running the 800 meter run. Hopefully I can pull off a pr!!!

Next year I will be running for the Cowboys of Oklahoma State University!! I'm very happy with my commitment to Oklahoma because the coach, Dave Smith, is an awesome guy who is very personal with his athletes and has done great with building a national caliber team out of hard working underdogs. I really think he knows how to train athletes to reach their potential and I hope it works while I'm there. I also chose OSU because the recruiting class they have coming in is tremendous, I'm not sure if I'm aloud to spill the beans but it's gonna be awesome and I really wanted a team that I would have to work hard at to even make the traveling team.

So that's pretty much my track and cross country career in general and where I'm heading next year. In my next journal I'll share some of the workouts I have been doing and how races have been going.
