2A Girls State Meet Day 2: Morrison 12.01 100m 56.26 400m, LaBeaume 43-10.5 SP

The wind in Mt. Tahoma Stadium was a swirling wind, sometimes strong, sometimes non-existent, which created some interesting wind gage readings. Cherish Morrison from Blaine was the top qualifier in the 100 meter prelims this morning with a 12.01 into a headwind. The wind gage reading was -6.5, which makes you think just how fast she could run with no wind. Her previous best is a 12.23. Morrison then came back in the 400 prelims to run a 56.26 breaking her own 2A State Record of 57.28 set last year.

Kyra Davidson from Hockinson and Jennifer Nakata from Pullman came into the State Meet leading the state 2A rankings with high jump of 5-4. It seems appropriate that the two jump same height at State. The pair both cleared 5-2 but with Davidson winning the tie breaker.

Chelsea Genther from Burlington-Edison won the 100 meter hurdles with a 15.85 into a hefty headwind (-2.5.)

Anna LaBeaume from Sequim had a 2 foot 9 inch season best in shot put today to in the competition in 43-10.5. She put 41-1 early in a early season non-league meet in March.

In very close triple jump competition, Sehome’s Zoe Miller got the win with a jump of 35-8.25 just a quarter inch over league rival Lauren Goldman from Bellingham at 35-8. The top six placers finished within 9.25 inches of each other
