Arnie Young Invitational Highlights

Maddie Meyers of the Northwest School in Seattle prepared for major action in next weekend’s major test at the Arcadia Invitational with competition in the Annie Young Invitational in Renton.  Maddie, who Adidas just announced will defend her “Dream Mile” victory in New York City at the end of the track season,   ran the 800 Meter run in what essential was a speed workout for Arcadia and won the event with a time of 2:18.16.   She received an excellent challenge from Sarah Reiter of Lindbergh (2:18.27) & Lily Engelbrekt (2:1841) of Bishop Blanchet.    Maddie also won the 1600 with a time of 5:00.55.  Jordan McPhee of Mt. Rainier followed Maddie placing second in 5:11.97, while Stephanie Spiekerman (5:14.75) & Rachel Atwood (5:21.13) of Blanchet placed third and fourth.

     Korey Krotzer, who like Meyers is only a junior, had a fine day with a victory in the 1600M with a time of 4:29.59.  The Auburn Riverside runner followed that with a second place effort in the 800 meters (2:01.91), as he finished just a bit behind winner Steve Robinson of Bishop Blanchet.    Angela Spray of Newport-Bellevue annexed the girls’ 3200 with a 11:50 clocking, while Angelo Comeaux of Everett ran 9:36.67 to edge Chris Wozniak of Garfield by about a second.

       Amadi Bentley of Renton won the 300 hurdles with 48.56 and also placed second in the 100 hurdles (15.34) behind Naivasha Sophuson Smith of Nathan Hale, who was timed in 15.18.   In other girls’ action Saibra Rubadue of Tahoma triumphed in the discus with 105-08. Dezarae Faafolau took the shot with 34-03 and also was second in the discus.  Kaeley Scruggs of Nathan Hale won the pole vault with 10-03, while Brandi Williams had a close battle in the long jump with Baileh Simms of Garfield with the former earning the victory 17-03 to 17-00.

 P J Benedictus of Renton had a fine day as he earned victories in the long jump (22-01) and the triple jump (47-03).   Kyle Martin of Hazen garnered the pole vault title with 14-00.  Kolton Auxier of Mt. Si was best in the shot put as his heave of 52-03 was the only mark over fifty.   Andrey Zapneprovsky of Auburn Riverside won the 100 meter hurdles with 14.99 and then came back in the 300H to place second (42.41) behind Ty Sissel of Everett, who was timed in 41.71.
