Narrows League meet
The Gig Harbor guys overpowered their competition in the 4A division with a low of 30 points to beat Olympia by 40. Wolfgang Beck led the way for Gig with a fine 15:21 & his team mate Logan Carroll was not far behind in 2nd with his 15:27. Peter Kesting of Olympia ran 15:52: a fine time for a sophomore runner on the Fort Steilacoom course. Nate Van Haitsma of Olympia (15:55) took 4th & Tristan Peloquin of Gig Harbor 16:06 for Gig making it two sophomores in the top five this year. Defending girls’ champion Brenna Peloquin is out for the season with a stress reaction and Sofia Kane, who placed second in this event last year, took advantage by earning the victory in a fine time of 18:19. Rose Christen of Central Kitsap placed 2nd in 18:28 and Hannah Derby of Bellarmine Prep had her best race of the season earning third in 18:53. Daryl Phill of BP followed with 18:53 and Jessica Peterson of South Kitsap finished 5th with 19:14.

Portland Area Action
We covered Wednesday’s action in the area but a few efforts bear repeating including Paige Rice’s time of 17:48 at Westmoreland. Ellen Patterson, also from St. Mary’s Academy finished 2nd in 18:25 and Kennedy Allen of David Douglas took 3rd with 18:44. Lacey Conner of SMA was only three seconds back in fourth. Taylor Hybl of Centennial led the away at Canby with16;58 but Brendan Seehaver of Canby followed only a second later & Morgan Webber led three other Canby runners to seal the deal. Brenna Wolf was the first of six Canby runners to sweep the girls’ race. Emma Wren & Adrian Hinkle led the way for Cleveland, which ran at Wilson. Dan Oekerman of Beaverton had the best time for the day in the area with his 15:47 and Charlotte Corless led Sunset’s victory at Lincoln. Sam Remington (15:49) & Ellie Kallgren (18:21)led their Jesuit squads to victory at home against Southridge & Westview.

Burnside Wildhorse Meet
This Friday meet in Pendleton saw Maggie Coleman back up her big race the previous weekend at Concordia with a victory in a time of 18:44. Grace Grim of Hood River Valley followed in 18:57 and Katriel O’ Reilly earned third with 19:07. McKenzie Evans of Union (Or.) placed fourth in 19:26 and Hermiston’s Katie Markwick added a fifth place effort for the Bulldogs, who tied Hood River Valley with 55 points. Hermiston secured the victory thanks to their sixth runner Anamaria Cancing-Ornelus, who broke the tie with her 32nd place finish. It is that way in cross country, which is why coaches remind their athletes that ‘every runner counts.’ Union placed third with 74 points, while Pendleton, which was led by Delaney Clem ‘s sixth place finish of 19:31, took fourth with 95. Hermiston did not run their big guns in the boys’ race, which opened the door for a number of runners and Seth Deal of Waitsburg- Prescott stepped through score a victory in 16:25. David Ribich of Enterprise was close behind with 16:29 and Skyler Larson of Tri-cities came in third with 16:31. Efrain Jaime of Hermiston finished fourth with 16:37 followed by Kenneth Sipp of Union (16:48). Tri-Cities prep, which won its own invitational last week, made it two invites in a row with a score of 51 points. Hood River Valley claimed second with 82 edging Hermiston, which had 84.
Greater St. Helen’s Meet
Alexa Efraimson of Camas raced away from her challengers and won with a time of 18:09. Alexa Fuller of Union earned second in 18:46 and was followed by Alissa Pudlitzke of Camas, who ran a fine 18:54. Maddie Woodson of Camas garnered fourth with 19:10 and Cassie McKinney of Union earned fifth in 19:27. Skyview ‘s Sara Taferre of Skyview (19:35) was the last female to break twenty minutes with her sixth place finish. Camas had all of its top five runners finish in the top eight to claim the victory. The boy’s race was a two-man duel between Mark Tedder of Battle Ground & Colby Gilbert of Skyview. Tedder won this round with his clocking of 15:42. Gilbert followed in 15:49 and in fairness had a hamstring effort in part due to it being his third big effort in a week but both are looking quite well and should make some noise at state. Andrew Duffy ran 16;29 and was the first of three straight Camas runners(Tucker Boyd & Andrew Kaler being the others), so camas had little trouble in claiming the boys’ team race. Kaden Herbertson of Skyview placed sixth with 16:59.

Metro Championship – Seattle
Joe Hardy of Seattle prep set a record on the often-run Lower Woodland Park course with 15:07. Andrew Foerder of Nathan Hale earned 2nd with 15:50. Andrea Masterson of Lakeside ran 18:50 to head the girls.

Kingco 4A Championship
Chandler Olson of Woodinville zipped home in 18:03 on the Lincoln Park course and Kyra Burke of Inglemoor earned 2nd with 18:27. It was a three-man duel in the guys’ race with Jamie Coughlin of Garfield running 15:30 to edge Keegan Symmes of Skyline by two seconds & Cameron Stanish of Garfield by three. Adam Houston of Roosevelt was not far back with his solid mark of 15:38.

Wesco 4A Championship
Henry Jackson runners went 1 – 2 with Aaron Roe claiming the top spot with 15:44. Jadon Olson ran 15:51 and then Jackson Griffing of Edmonds-Woodway placed third with 15:52. Mikayla Pivec of Lynnwood earned a thirteen second victory in 18:48.
Wesco 3A Championship
It had to appear, as if there were three separate races in the girls’ race at Cedarcrest Golf Course with Amy-Eloise running away and hiding with an impressive 17:01. That left her Glacier Peak team mate Katie Bianchini by herself, and she easily out-distance the rest of the field with 17:49. Haley Suarez of Meadowdale finished alone in third with 18:39 & Mikayla Ingram of GP placed 4th in 19:04. Carter Osborne of Shorecrest nipped Jack Pearce of Mountlake Terrace by a second with his time of 16:06.
NWC Championship
Emily Pittis of Sehome ran 18:25 to secure the victory over Mimi Meggison of Meridian, who ran 18:40. Rebekiah Oviatt of Sehome placed 3rd in 18:45. Squalicum ’s Brittany Gappa was held out of the race due to some physical issues but should return next week. Tom Bradley of Blaine topped Patrick Gibson of Squalicum with his time of 1521. Connor Jungkuntz of Ferndale edged Dillon Quintana of Mount Baker by a second for third with 15:42.

Evergreen Conference Championship
Poli Baltazar of Aberdeen raced home first in 15:35 leaving Dallas Snider (16:21) & Ben Monk (16:23) to battle it out for second. Lauren Pierson ran 19:39 & was the only female runner to break twenty.
GNL 2A District 7 Meet
Sanne Holland of Cheney was victorious with a time of 19:09 & Brittany Aquino of East Valley was 2nd with 19:15. Daniel Amann of Dear Park topped the guys with 16:44, while Scott Kopczynski of EV ran 16:59.
Pac West – West Valley Challenge
This race at Bush Pasture in Salem saw Lauren Stokley of Kennedy top Eliza Smith of Blanchet Catholic 21:06 to 21:10. Kody Osborne of East Linn Christian led the way for the guys with 16:43 to top Andrew Hinkel of Portland Lutheran by nine seconds.
Baker City Invitational
Nic Maszk of Baker won in 17:32 & Quentin Jensen of Nyssa was second. Madison Winn of Burns ran 22:01 to lead the girls and Fabiola Sanchez made it two individual second place finishes for Nyssa.
ECL Championship
Hazel Carr of the Northwest School in Seattle ran 18:34 & won by almost 40 seconds & Graham Peet, also from NW, led the guys with 16:28 by 37 seconds. The Northwest girls won their team race with 35 points but Overlake topped the guys with 39 to NW’s 48.
Idaho
District III 5A Championships
The event was held at Eagle Island State Park, so the times should be considered in that context. Meridian runner Dwain Stucker navigated the course in a brisk 15:58 & was followed by Justin Ross of Rocky Mountain, who ran 16:02. Third went to David Steele of Capital in 16:10, who finished four seconds ahead of Andrew Rafla of Timberline. Thomas Rigby of Boise placed fifth in 16:19. Capital upset Rocky Mountain to take the team title 71 to 77.
Emily Hamlin of Boise earned the victory by pulling away from Mikayla Malaspina of Vallivue and won by ten seconds with her clocking of 18:28. Dana Snell of RM placed 3rd in 18:47 and Lila Klopfenstein of Meridian took fourth in 18:50. Cheryn Trapp of Vallivue came in 5th with 18:55 & Paige Dilmore followed in 18:57 placing sixth. Sara Christenson of Borah garnered 7th in nineteen flat. Sam Mckinnon of Mountain View returned after being out a month due to injury and qualified for State by finishing in the top third. Vallivue finished first in the gals’ race with 79 points to 92 for Boise.
District V Championship 4A
Elijah Armstrong of Pocatello ran 15:37 on the course in Preston & his team mates Haydin & Driztin Herndon claimed 2nd & 3rd as they shared the time of 16:01. Ryden Carruthers of Preston finished 4th in 16:22. Pocatello, whose runners also finished 8th & 9th, had no problem taking the team title. Rachel McGovern of Pocatello led the way in the girls’ race with 18:42 and was followed by Hannah McInturff of Century, who ran 19:27. Preston runners Caitlin Elgan & Whitney Groll placed 3rd & 4th respectively.

District III 4A Championship
Tallon Howie of Bishop Kelly won the boys’ race in 18:07 & Lina Snell of Middleton led the girls with 20:01.
District IV 4A Championship
Chase England of Wood River was the only runner under eighteen minutes on the Sun Valley Golf Course with 17:46. Jasmine Nesbitt won the girls’ race with 21:09 as her team mates Kayla Green & Jordan Mogensen swept the next two places and their team had a low of 22 points.
District Vi 5A Championship
Highland won titles in both the girls’ & boys’ race, which was a fitting answer to being denied the opportunity to even run in the event. Recall that the team had one too many races according to rules, which were probably made up by athletic directors, who were once foolball players and know & care little about cross country. Presli Hutchinson won the girls’ individual title in 19:22 and Niquelle Lewis of Idaho Falls was 2nd in 20:00. Andrew Follett of Idaho Falls led the guys with 17:07 and was followed by Highland runners Kaden Clay & D ’Artagnan Kilgore took the next two places.
District I/II 5-4A Championships
Coeur d’ Alene swept the top five places in the girls’ race, which was held at Hells Gate State park in Lewiston, which will be the site of next week’s State meet. Emily Callahan won with 18:55 to finish a second in front of Punky Duran who in turn crossed the line a second ahead of Kara Story. Josie & Krista Story came in 4th & 5th for CDA but Sam Levora of Sandpoint led the guys in 16:15. Jake Finney of Lake City & his team mate Kyler Little shared the time of 16:33. Michael Dunton of CDA earned 4th in 16:51 & Eric Story of Moscow placed 5th in 16:57.
Around the Nation
Mt. SAC – California
This race, which is held outside of Los Angeles, I as hallowed as it is challenging but Sarah Baxter put in a performance, that made one wonder, if she ran the traditional course. The course record had been an impressive 16:16 by Amber Trotter in 2001, who then went on to become that year’s Foot Locker champion. Baxter, who essentially ran by herself, flew over the course in a stunning 16:00. Not even Jordan Hasay (16:27) or Marie Lawrence (16:29), who hold the next best times were even close and Baxter ‘s masterpiece is so impressive, that one has to go back to Melody Fairchild in the 1990 Foot Locker race to find a prep performance on a comparable level and Melody was a two-time Foot Locker national champion. Mt. SAC, sadly, is huge carnival that entails numerous races thereby diluting the competition but there were a number of other harriers, who placed their names in the history books starting with Julia Maxwell, who won her race in 16:52, which is now the 16th fastest time. She is also the 12th fastest person as Baxter & Lawrence have their names in twice & Hasay is up on the list three times. Also turning in an historic performance was Anna Maxwell of San Lorenzo Valley, who won her division in 16:57. Her time is the 16th fastest and moves her just behind Julia Stamps, who is another Foot Locker champion. SLV runners performed very well behind Maxwell with Claire Macmillan earning fifth with 18:37 and its other runners placing 22nd, 31st & 33rd. In an odd twist of fate Emma Abrahamson of La Costa Canyon did not run this year, although her team did (Kelly Lawson place 8th with 17:40 in a race won by Addi Zerrenner of Dos Pueblos in 16:59) and she falls off of the All-Time Top Thirty times along with Sara Bei, Lauren Saylor, Kauren Tarver & Jessica Tonn, while Zerrenner moves onto the list. Jessica Tonn, however, still is on the list with her time of 17:03 in 2009. Bethan Knight won another division with her time of 17:23.

While not jolting the harrier Richter scale of history quite like the girls, the guys, who were led by Bryan Fernandez of Dos Pueblos did make noise. Fernandez won the Team Sweepstakes with 14:34, which moves him to twelfth on the list behind Mark Matusak (2003) and ahead of Chad (2009) & Ryan (2000) Hall. Mitchell Pratt finished in second in that division with 14:39, which also moves him onto the All-time list at 24th. Estevan De La Rosa of Arcadia ran 14:47 to place third in that division but his team had a total time of 75:16, which is the second fastest ever & trails only their own best of 75:45 from 2010, when they were led by Ammar Moussa ‘s 14:24. Ammar ’s time ranks as the best ever, although it tied the 2005 mark set by Diego Mercado. The boys’ individual Sweepstakes was also loaded but Juan Gonzalez of El Toro won with 14:38, which places him 20th AT. Tal Braudel (14:41) of Torrey Pines & Steven Fahy (14:46) of La Costa Canyon placed 2nd & 3rd, while Kevin Quinn of La Salle ran 14:53 for fourth.
West Valley from Fairbanks, Alaska added almost a month to its schedule beyond its State meet and Peter Noon placed 17th in his division with 16:18. Mikko Sayre finished 27th in 16:32 and Kuba Grzeda followed with 57th (17:07). Keep in mind that the temperature has not made it over 22 degrees in almost a week, so training for them is definitely more of a challenge & that is not to forget the shock to their system that California must have caused.
Monterey Bay Invitational
This meet was held on Friday in Salinas and saw Yohaness Estifanos win the three mile race with a time of 15:02. The Milpitas runner finished 37 seconds ahead of Miguel Vasquez of Andrew Hill. Catherine Lowdon of Burlingame topped the girls with 19:26
New York
The biggest news event in the state was the non-event of Mary Cain’s dropping of her Bronxville cross country team and passing on her State meet as well to train with Alberto Salazar, who as a coach not all that long ago lost the services of Kara Wheeler Goucher and Amy Yoder Begley. As a sort of Nike athlete she has announced to run in the mud bowl in Portland.
Marathon Invitational
Ryan Manahan of Marcellus won again with 16:06 finishing almost a full minute ahead of his rivals.
Chittenango Invitational
Erin McConnell of Fabius-Pompey finished over a minute before her competition with a winning time of 18:38. James Gowan of Mexico led the guys.
Clarence Invitational
Katie Lembo of Penfield ran 18:27 and was followed by Marissa Saenger followed with 18:27.
Greenwich Invitational
The race was held at Saratoga Springs State Park although the Blue Streaks did not run. Matt Hoffman of Fonda-Fultonville won with 15:41 and Marc Brandmyer followed with 15:55. Jamie Kasza led the girls with 18:46.
Eden Red Raider
T J Hornberger of Lake Shore ran the 3.1 mile course in 15:11 with his teammates Ian Yargerv (16:20) & Calvin Butlak (16:23) added 2nd & 3rd. Lauren Reyda of Fredonia ran 18:07 to win by over a minute.
Indiana
New Prairie Semi-State
This qualifier for state saw Ashley Erba post a time of 17:06, which was the fastest time in Indiana history. The Warsaw runner earned a solid victory despite the impressive mark of second place finisher Bobbie Burgess, who ran 17:38. Bethany Neeley (18:18) was a distant third. The guys also posttest some swift results with Alec Kostelnic of Morgan Township getting the win over Jacob Poyner, also from Warsaw, by four seconds with his clocking of 15:45. Kyle Eller of Lowell ran 15:57 for third, which gave him a two second margin over Robert Murphy.
New Haven Semi-State
Erba did not hold her record for long, as Anna Rohrer of Mishawaka sped home in 17:04.0. Their match-up at the LaVern Gibson course in Terre Haute should be something else. Anna Aldrich of Fremont placed 2nd in 18:19. In the boys’ race Zach Panning also ran away from his competition thanks to his effort of 15:37. The Concordia Lutheran runner was followed by Nicholas Lagemann (15:58) & Joel Hartman, who were only a second a part.
Brown County Semi-State
Connor Sorrells of Barr Reeve had the fastest time of the day with his 15:17. Karsen Tays of Columbus North ran a solid 15:33 and Jackson Bertoli of Terre Haute South took 3rd with 15:38, which was only a second ahead of Jonathan Reynolds of North Harrison. Right behind him in 15:40 was Alec Sievern of Rietz, while Damon Pruett (15:42) & Kaden Eaton (15:43) of Columbia North should have something to say about the outcome at State as well. It was fast field with a dozen runners breaking sixteen minutes. Columbus North girls went 1 – 2 with times of 18:06 & 18:15 for Mackenzie Caldwell & Rachael Sollman. Alex Warzyniak of Bloomington South garnered third with 18:17.
Carmel Semi-State
Troy Reeder remained undefeated by claiming victory here in 15;45 & Malyka Abramson of Avon headed the girls’ field with 17:55. Second place went to Kendra Foley of Noblesville, who ran 18:14.
Montana State Meet
Zach Perrin of Flathead picked the right time to finally top Adam Peterman of Hellgate. His impressive time of 15:08 brought him home nine seconds in front of his rival and Troy Fraley of Glacier was not all that far back considering their times, because he ran 15:25. Jason Holmes of Bozeman placed fourth with 15:53. Paige Gilchrist of Hellgate provided some fireworks of her own by posting a mark of 17:47 in the girls AA race. Rachel Jones of West was second with 18:38. Sadi Henderson of Corvallis won the A race with 18:37 and 2011 Foot Locker finalist Makena Morley of Bigfork headed the young ladies’ B race with 18:13. Chiara Warner of Broadwater came home alone in second with 18:33: a minute ahead of the third place finisher.
Utah State Meet
This meet, which was held on Wednesday, showed that this is a banner crop of runners, who could make waves on the national level. Topping the bill naturally was Ben Saarel of Park City, who ran 14:56, which is a time that only Luke Puskedra (14:54) has beaten. It was Ben’s third straight 3A title, which is something that not even Puskedra accomplished. Ben just missed last year at Foot Locker West but this year hopefully will be a different story. Jordan Cross of Ogden ran a swift 15:30 but was well in second & he was followed reasonably closely by Michael Finch of Pine view, who ran 15:39. Austin Slade of Stansbury was 4th in 15:41 and Jack Dailey of Judge placed 5th in 15:41. Jacob Eslington of Tipanogos also tore up the course and helped redraw the record books by seizing his second State title with a brilliant 15:06. That time was faster than Josh Rohatinsky, who is one of the greats in Foot Locker history and relegates Josh to fourth on the Utah State list. Almost incredibly Jerrell Mock of Logan finished in 15:07.8, which places him just behind Rohatinsky on the All-Time list. Kramer Morton of Alta scored in the 5A race with 15:13 and moved to sixth on the AT list. Krammer McLelland of American Fork earned second in that race with 15:18 and moved to ninth on the list, which is right behind Conner Mantz, who ‘only’ finished third in 4A race with 15:17. So strong were the fields that Alex Hedquist ran 15:21 and placed third in the 5A race.
Emily Rich of Bingham joined its list of State champions by annexing the 5A title in 18:01. Tavia Dutson of Jordan (18:17) & Ellie Child (18:29) followed in second & third respectively. The girls’ 4A division was like 3A one of the boys, as it produced the swiftest times of the day and Lucy Biles sped home in 17:49 with a time, that appears to place her 8th on the girls’ list All-Time. Miranda O’ Very of Mountain Crest was second in 18:14 and Summer Harper of Orem ended up third. Aimee Bryson of Cedar earned the laurels in 3A with her mark of 17:59. Sarah Feeny of Ogden claimed second in 18:12 & Annie Orr of park City was third in 18:16. Alisse Walker followed in fourth with 18:24. The state should bring a solid array of runners to Foot Locker West and be a force with which to reckon.
Michigan
Speaking of Foot Locker Michigan has two young ladies, who are on a mission to return to sunny San Diego and both Erin Finn & Julia Bos continue to run well. Bos won the OK Conference meet on Wednesday with 17:31 and won by a minute and a half. Matt Plantinga, also from Grand Rapids, headed the boys’ field with 16:49. Erin Finn of West Bloomfield scored at the OAA White Division #3 with her mark of 17:47. Elena Miller of Bloomfield Hills followed with 18:03 and was a minute ahead of her closest pursuer. Joey Kemeny of BH led the guys with 16:37.
Larry Steeb Invitational
Gina Patterson ran 18:19 and Andrew Thomas scored for the guys with 16:34.
Chippewa Hills Invitational
Brandon Winter of Ionia had the winning time with 16:06 and Nick Vanderooi of Fremont was 2nd with 16:18. Megan O ‘ Neill of Chippewa Hills was first in the girls’ race with 18:39.
New Jersey
Ocean City Championships
Matt Nelson of Barnegat pulled away after two miles to earn a victory in 15:33 over Kyle Kroon of Toms River, who ran 15:47. Danielle Leavitt of Lacey triumphed in the girls’ race with18:38.
Sussex Championship
Sarah Disanza of High Point won here with 18:12 over Kelly Shaffer of South Hunterdon. Craig Corti of Wallkill Valley scored in the boys’ race with 16:05.
Colorado
Centennial League
Jordyn Colter of Creek ran 17:43, which gave her a fifty second victory over Erin Norton of Grandview. Alec Brudzinski, also from CC, also collected a victory in 16:05. Danny Vavrik of Arapahoe was 2nd in 16:14 but the team title went to Cherry, when their fifth man, Dominic Brevig, came in 15th ,which was well ahead of Arapahoe’s fifth runner, who finished 27th and the victory went to Cherry Creek by four points. The Cherry creek girls had no such excitement winning by 24 points.
Maine
Eastern Regional
The course was a quagmire but unintentional unlike the one Portland Meadows and the only question was how much water must the runners slog through after as much as seven inches fell the evening before. The final times were thusly were not indicative of true ability. There was no great surprise, when the first girl to finish was Bethanie Brown of appropriately named Waterville, whose time of 18:46 made her the only female athlete to break twenty minutes. Dan Curts, a junior from Ellsworth, won the B race with 16:49 and was the only runner to break seventeen minutes on the course.
Western Regional
Nyajock Pan of South Portland won Class A in 19:52 & Kirsten Sandreuter of Greely scored in B with 19:57. Silas Eastman of Fryeburg Academy ran 16:47 to claim B, while Jack Pierce of Merriconeag finished in 16:38 to score in ‘C’.
Massachusetts
Bay State Invitational
This race in Northfield found two Foot Locker finalists stepping out on Saturday. Jonathan Green of St. John Shrewsbury scored with 15:54 with Nathaniel Adams of Lexington placing second in 16:15. Catarina Rocha of Peabody had a facile victory with her time of 18:49 topping the field by better than a minute.
West Virginia Regional
Jacob Burcham of Cabell Midland led his team to its 4th straight region title with 15:18.
Rhode Island
Brown Invitational
This meet is always one of the key meets on the Northeast calendar and the guys posted some fine times with Scott Carpenter leading the way. The Lenox memorial harrier cruised home in 15:15 with Cumberland’s Trevor Crawley taking second in 15:28. Stephen Bourguet of Manhasset was third in 15:35 and then a trio of runners clogged the finish chutes at nearly the same, as Dan Galford of Msgr. Farrell (15:40), Christian Stafford (15:42) of Pembroke and his team mate John Valeri (15:44) were hot on his tail. There was little let-up with Patrick Ginty of St. Anthony’s leading a group of three more runners under sixteen minutes. St. Anthony’s beat Pembroke 41 to 67 in the boys’ race. Tiana Guevera of Miller Place notched a mark of 18:12 to best Sabrina Southerland of Benjamin Cardozo , who ran 18:19. Tom Meehan ran 15:41 in event #10 for the boys.
Wyoming State Meet
Ricky Faure of Rock Springs is only a junior but he added a second State 4A title to his collection due to his time of 16:33. Jonah Henry of Laramie placed second in 16:42 but had the consolation of leading his team to victory over Rock Springs 44 to 48. Abby Phillips of Gillette ran 19:55 to win that divisional title by ten seconds. The girls of Pine Bluffs-Burns claimed their third straight title in the 2A race.

Gila Valley Championship
With Bernie Montoya visiting the University of Texas on a recruiting trip his Cibola teammate Jose Garcia led the squad to victory here over Kofa 25 to 64 and claimed the individual honors, as well with a time of 17:07. Cibola had a double score in the girls’ race after Monica Huston came home first in 19:32 and led the team to a low scoring victory with35 points.
Eagle Classic
Caleb Peckham earned a thirty second victory over Paul Rohwer with his time of 16:57. Madison Babione led the gals with 20:13.
Delaware
Joe O’ Neill Invitational
The story here was Tatnall, which won all ends of the team and individual affairs. Reagan Anderson raced home in 17:49, while Jack Hagood scored in the boys’ race with 15:24. Tatnall also garnered second place with Stephen Garrett’s 15:32. Amanda Rickert of the Charter School of Wilmington

Baltimore County Championships
Vincent Ciattei of Perry Hall ran 16;05 for a twenty second victory & Isabel Griffith of Dulaney earned a ten second victory with her time of 18:56.

WIAA Division I at Verona
Defending his Division title by topping Ryan Nameth, Chandler Diffee won 15:53 to 15:57. Spencer Hrycry of Janesville Craig placed third. Nikki Steffen of Stoughton ran the 4K in 16:21.
South Milwaukee D I
Brittney Feiver of Kenosha Tremper scored in the 4K with 14:40 & James Frederickson of Racine Case won the 5K with 16:32.
Arrowhead Sectional
Alec Miller won with 15:35.
WIAA D II
Ryan McCoy and Trevor Wunnicke went 1 – 2 at State D2 last fall & repeated that order here at Twining Park but the Cheesemakers swept positions three through six for the team title. Ann Eisenzimmer topped the gals with 15:06 for 4K.
Sectional at Madison D I
Sophomore Olin Hacker, that last name should be familiar to running fans, won with 16:17 to defeat his Madison West teammate Evan Kohl, who ran 16:24. McKaela Christenson of Baraboo led the girls with 14:22.
Boscobel D 3 Sectional
Tyson Miehe earned victory by a 31 second margin.
Lake Country Lutheran Sectional
Isabel Seidel was the winner here as she made it five straight sectional crowns for the Seidel family. Foot Locker champion Molly Seidel earned the first four titles.
Muskego Sectional
The individual winners left little doubt as Carl Hirsch (15:39) and Elizabeth Flatley (14:26) had solid leads. Rachel Werking placed second with 14:43

Division I - Akron
Therese Haiss of Solon broke the all-division meet record at venerable Goodyear Park with a time of 18:46. Solon finished second in the team race behind Hudson in the division. She led the entire race as Caroline Sanders placed second. Akron St. Vincent –St. Mary won D2 and had their own band on hand to musically spur them along the course. SVSM runners took the top four places with Marissa Rosetti leading the team. Rachel Iacafano finished second but her brother did her one better by taking first in the boys’ race.
Division I – Strongsville
Dan Zupan of Berea led the guys but the St. Ignatius guys won the team title behind Joe Arquillo & Jack Miller. Natalie Camardo ran 19:22 to top the girls. Alexandra Markovich of Hawken claimed the D III title in 19:09 & won by over half a minute. Kyle Polman, whose older brother qualified for Foot locker last year, ran 16:28 defeating John Brett of Gilmour.
Division I – Columbus
Kent Ford & Jacob Dumford of Westerville North went 1 – 2 with Ford getting the win in 16:55.71 & edging Dumford by .27 of a second.

Abingdon Invitational – Bristol
Brad Swiney of Battle crossed the finish line in 15:58 and Matthew Farmer of Rural Retreat followed with 15:59. Kerri Dalton of Cave Spring scored in the girls’ race.
New Mexico
Rio Rancho Jamboree
It was supposed to be a showdown between Luis Martinez of Cleveland & Alonzo Chavez of Mora but Chavez had an off day. He stayed with Martinez early but could not stay with his rival, who remained undefeated with a time of 15:50. Aaron Flores of Cleveland caught Chavez last & earned second in 16:15, while Chavez came home third with 16:23 just two seconds in front of Preston Charlie of Rio Rancho. Jenna Thurman of Del Norte ran 19:13 to defeat Julie Gianinni of St. Pius X by nine seconds.
Pennsylvania
Region at Erie
Ethan Lewis of Cathedral Prep placed first with 16:30.
Region at Union City
Austin Pondel led the way with his mark of 15:37. Kelsey Leasure of Seneca won with 19:51.
Tri-State Coaches
It has been awhile since I was last at Slippery Rock but the meet here is rather cool, because the runners pass through the gate of a mock castle. Brianna Schwartz of Shaler won easily in 18:10 & Mary Malone of North Hills took second in 18:32. Daniel Jaskowak of Grove City and Brent Kennedy of Kiski dueled well into the race with Jaskowak nipping Kennedy by a second with his time of 15:36. Ean Disilvio of Allderice was third in 16:01.
Wolfgang Beck
Narrows League meet
The Gig Harbor guys overpowered their competition in the 4A division with a low of 30 points to beat Olympia by 40. Wolfgang Beck led the way for Gig with a fine 15:21 & his team mate Logan Carroll was not far behind in 2nd with his 15:27. Peter Kesting of Olympia ran 15:52: a fine time for a sophomore runner on the Fort Steilacoom course. Nate Van Haitsma of Olympia (15:55) took 4th & Tristan Peloquin of Gig Harbor 16:06 for Gig making it two sophomores in the top five this year. Defending girls’ champion Brenna Peloquin is out for the season with a stress reaction and Sofia Kane, who placed second in this event last year, took advantage by earning the victory in a fine time of 18:19. Rose Christen of Central Kitsap placed 2nd in 18:28 and Hannah Derby of Bellarmine Prep had her best race of the season earning third in 18:53. Daryl Phill of BP followed with 18:53 and Jessica Peterson of South Kitsap finished 5th with 19:14.
