Gray Places Third in Trial's Walk

Erin Gray, a former Oregon XC champion for South Eugene, found the course in her home town friendly, as she placed third in this morning's 20K walk.   Gray's time was 1:35.40 on this cool but humid & overcast morning.   Maria Michta claimed first with a time of 1:34.53 and Miranda Melville came in second with 1:34.56.   Gray had plenty of margin for error with Jill Cobb taking fouth in 1:37.00.  The only problem at the moment is that none of the three athletes have the Olympic A standard, which is 1:33.30 & there is precious little time to get the requisite time.   Still a bronze medal at the US Olympic Trials makes this a banner day.
