Erin Gray, former Oregon XC champion at State for South Eugene, found the home area friendly, as she placed third this morning. With cool temperatures & overcast and humid conditions Erin finished third in the 20K Race Walk with a time of 1:35.40. Winning the race was Maria Michta with a time of 1:34.53, while Miranda Melville claimed second in 1:34.56. Gray had plenty of margin for error, as fourth place finisher Jill Cobb garnered fourth in 1:37.00. Unfortunately all three athletes failed to achieve the Olympic A standard of 1:33.30 and there is precious little time to achieve the requisite time. Still placeing third in the Olympic Trials is a coup and Gray join an impressive group of qualifiers with Oregon roots.
