Reaching The High Notes.

Reaching The High Notes

When asked why he first got into pool vaulting, Josh Winter of Bothell, HS replied in the way, you know when you here it, is as honest and obvious as anything,"It's a lot of fun"

From his first jumping as a Sophomore, Josh knew he was were he is supposed to be. He finished ninth at state that year reaching an impressive first year effort of 13\'6

Seeing where he could go he enrolled in the winter Jumping Program with Pat Licari at the UW.

Good off season guidance, great coaching under Drew Langlund of Bothell, genes, (his father was a vaulter at WSU,)and , oh yes, having lots of fun all simmered together with talent and perserverence. Josh jumped 15\' in his Junior year and took 4th at state.

This season is proving even better. Josh jumped 15\'9\" at the Kingco Finals, sitting around till nearly dark until the bar was set high enough to spur him on. Josh jumped thru 3 heights easily clearing each one. His last attempt at 16\" triggered 2 misses which told him, Not Today, Next time.

Next Time is this Thursday at the 4A Kingco District Finals.
Josh is well above his closest competitor in 4A, Bo Carillo of Mt Spokane who just cleared 15\'

Clearing 16\' will put Josh in the top 18 all time State Vaulters.

This kid is not just all vaulting, He is the captain of the Bothell Track squad, he is a dynamic and important leg on the 4 x 100 team, He played wide receiver and corner back on the football team (4 interceptions in 1 game!!)

He also sings in the Jazz acapella band.

The trip to Pasco and the State Finals should be a lot of fun.

Allot of colleges are looking at Josh. He has not made a commitment to any one yet. Each week that goes buy gets more college coaches looking.
