On a cold, wet, Seattle day, 9 teams from the prestigious KINGCO 4A district duked it out for the season. In spite of all the mud and rain, two figures brightened the gloomy sky over Lincoln Park.
Sarah Lord
Sarah, a sophomore at Redmond High, had been running since 6th grade with the Cascade Striders, and evaporated some of the standing water on the course with a time of 18:15. Sarah is focused on running, as she only runs XC and Track with the Mustangs. Sarah is a promising young athlete, so look for her to rattle things up for the next two years in KINGCO 4A. Praise the Lord.
Doug Holt
Although Mr. Holt, a Woodinville native, was unable to PR, he still ran a 15:40, which is about 10 seconds off his personal mark. Doug Attributes that to the "sloppy" course conditions and says he "relaxed" once he broke away from the pack. Nevertheless, Holt, who has been serious about running since the 8th grade, felt very proud about his first KINCO title. As a senior, Doug plans to continue running, and enjoys soccer, mountain biking, and taking epic adventures into the woods and up mountains with friends.
