What some may consider a success, Lateashea Currie calls a disappointment.

In her first season out for the Heritage track and field team, Currie placed third in the 100-meter and sixth in the 200-meter at last year’s state meet as a junior.

But it was not good enough. Not for Currie, anyway.

She was disapointed because her health was not 100 percent when she was competing at state in the Tri-Cities.

“I just wasn’t used to that weather,” Currie said. “I thought I was going to pass out. The whole time I was up there, I just wasn’t feeling good.”

But the senior feels good about this year. Very good.
